The trailer for Terminator: Salvation is out on the internet!

It's short, and I don't care for the choppy editing, but we get to see a lot and there are glimpses of Christian Bale as John Connor. He's got an American accent, like he does as Batman. It looks really cool.

I will pretty much watch any movie with Christian Bale in it, and Hollywood keeps rewarding this attitude by casting him as amazingly cool, iconic characters. To get Batman Begins was a real coup for him; it took him from recognized, popular, and critically praised actor to mega superstar. The role of John Connor could easily have done the same; it is another gigantic franchise with a career-making character role, not the least because he'd be the first adult portrayal of that character. So the fact that Christian Bale gets both of these roles, and within a short of time, means he's being trusted to carry two massive franchises. Hollywood producers correctly guessed that a) he could totally do it, and b) audiences would turn up. He doesn't have to be limited to only one superhero role...Christian Bale can be all your movie superheroes, if necessary! What for anyone else might be overexposure is, for Bale, just another day job of awesomeness.

Can you tell I have a crush? It's an intellectual crush for his great acting skills and an "wow he's really nice to look at" crush. More Christian Bale, please! I will never be bored or tired of him on screen.

I would be really pleased if they were able to make tie-ins from the new films to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I really enjoyed watching this year. It has been picked up for a second season, which makes me happy.

I read somewhere - maybe [livejournal.com profile] medie's Journal - that they were going to make references to the television series in the movie. I dunno if they're keeping any of the T3 canon. Which I wouldn't mind, I actually rather liked T3.
