I've spent a fair amount of time tonight watching tv. Catch-up, you might say.
I'm not terribly surprised that MamaPetrelli is claiming Syler as her son. Probably true...these 'heroes' are an incestuous little group.
"Eat your brain? Claire, that's disgusting" was the money line of the episode. Also answers some questions viewers like me have had for a while. Though I'm really curious what kind of power involves rooting in someone's brain with your fingertips. Does he have psychic-absorbent suckers on his fingertips or something?
I'm not at all surprised Mohinder is turning into a frog. I also want to reiterate what I've been saying since season one: that man is the prettiest person in the whole fucking cast. I mean...I just...no more words need be said. Mohinder is the prettiest.
When I watched the prologue of the season premier and Claire said "I always loved you" to Peter, I was reminded of the possibility that they would retcon her parentage (again) so that she and Peter could hook up, which would explain the weird vibe between them for the entire series. When I thought this, it hit me like an epiphany: Claire's father isn't Nathan, it's the blond guy that Hiro locked away in a grave. Same powers, same coloring. Nathan's wife at the time was stepping out on him with a supervillain.
I think the "magic serum" is just one more way this show is pillaging its plotlines from The 4400. Seriously, wtf? Why should I watch this show Heroes, which may be pretty but is ultimately shallow, and be denied a fifth season of The 4400? I mean for god's sake, the show ended with the ENTIRE CITY OF SEATTLE gaining superpowers or dying and all of the main cast members gaining superpowers and the beginning of the first city falling under the reign of a religious leader/prophet.
Now that show wasn't perfect, but it was a lot more ambitious than Heroes has proven so far. I'm annoyed that the formula for this season already looks like the last two seasons: Something's wrong with the future! Killers are on the loose! Hiro has a quest! Sylar is creepy and ambiguous! Trust no one! what a drag. I am happy with the direction they're taking Claire's character, though. She made some pretty good points in this ep about being a victim.
