I'm glad our first sight of post-JE Ten is the same image from the trailer: the Doctor, stepping from the TARDIS, smiling at the world.

I like him! I'd take him as Eleven. Or Twelve, whichever. But the most plausible way is to have him be Eleven, otherwise it'd be ten years before they switched Doctors again. For a while I thought they'd have him be a younger version of One, but I suppose Ten would have recognized him, then. I still think it's possible he's an impostor. Probably doesn't even realize it.

The two actors play well off each other. I like how NewDoctor^4 is pompous and arrogant and a bit hokey and old-fashioned.

"The Doctor's Companion does what the Doctor says." I'm rather amused by the idea of Ten being [his] own companion this time around. Makes me nostaligic for what could have been.

LOVE the fobwatch gag. Nice of them to make fun of that plot device.

Oohhh... they stole one of his hearts? Hm..

Did they say the name "Caroline" at any point before Doctor/JL remembers her? Because I swear I knew that his lost wife/lady would be named Caroline just before they said it. Either it was mentioned earlier, or I've got a damn good guessing sense.

...

Did the Doctor just make himself a GUN?

"You make me into this." Oh, right, THERE'S THE SANCTIMONIOUS PRICK FROM THE BEACH. Oh, Doctor. I knew that "you need fixing" stuff was bullshit and it could just as easily have been you who pulled the trigger on the Daleks. Again.

...wait, what? Why did they all explode? Did she do that? How could she if her connection was broken? That doesn't make any sense!

"Bravo, Sir!" Okay, as much as I love my wacky alien timey-wimey show (and oh, do I love), I am a little excited for the next series without RTD, because although I love so much of what RTD has done, I have never been fond of this diefacation thing that is always happening with Ten. Like right now, floating in the balloon, the "Doctor from on high". Nine didn't need these slavish camera angles.

The ending was a particularly nice scene, I thought. I liked Jackson's joking about it making his head hurt.

Overall: An enjoyable, goofy, ridiculous episode about aliens and time travel. Like every other episode, pretty much.
