Honestly, I NEVER imagined Katara as arm candy. Even without giving her a separate job to do, I always figured that ruling in the Fire Nation, especially with Zuko and the situation that had been set up would take a HELL of a lot of work, and require a lot of ambassator like duties.
(FYI, neither can Sokka. They are lost to the Southern Water Tribe forever; they are the village's price of victory.)
