it's like everyone just forgot about his scars and stuff, and that bugs me because I think they're very important for his character in showing how pained he is and how rough he's had it, etc.
That bothers me too. I've never even read a fic where they mention him having them surgically removed or anything. When I watched it I thought he'd kept them as a reminder of his experiences at the hands of humans-- Knives even calls him on it and goes all "Look what you've let them do to you," or whatever. But maybe in starting a "new life" as he seems to be at the end of the show, he'd consider removing them, sort of like he's going to stop punishing himself and let himslef be happy.
Also, it may have been a pretty stupid concept for him to have metal on his chest in the first place, but dammit it's THERE, and that means fic writers shouldn't just ignore it.
