We're going to war.
There's a new plague in Asia and Canada and probably gonna start here too.
This is the last year of Buffy and Lord of the Rings.
I'm losing my civil rights.
My feet are cold and I'm out of clean socks.
My not-elected President is an ass.
Damn, the world is coming to an end.

Date: 2003-03-16 06:48 pm (UTC)That new SARS thing (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is scary indeed, but it's only just been identified, so I'm not willing to think of it as incurable yet. More info at: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/other/acute_resp_syn_multi_031503.htm
"Buffy" is going out in style, in a planned way.
I have no idea what's up with LOTR.
War. Loss of civil rights. Big time scary. George W., his Daddy, and a whole bunch of conservatives just like them have been chipping away at our rights for decades. Before them, it was somebody else. We can't ever rest. It's like vampire slaying.
Socks. This has a remedy. Meanwhile, wrap your footses in a blankie or some sweaters. Or...do you have a dog? They make good foot warmers.
This president is, IMO, a super maxi ass. But most presidents are annoying as hell, and all beholden to special interests, and that's why we have three branches of government, and checks and balances, and separation of church and state, and a free press. Not that this Cabinet likes any of those pesky detriments to efficiency.
The world isn't ending. Our high standard of living might be, and certainly the way the world looks is changing. But it's always doing that. When I was a wee tiny brat, none of my playmates and I thought there'd even be a world by the turn of the century. Just a smoking radioactive cinder, is what we thought.
Before that - can you imagine how horrifically scary it would have been in 1941, when no one knew how the war would end? No one knew. You can just go back and back till forever, till wolves and saber-tooth tigers, and it's always been dicey, and it's always looked really grim.
Not that we can be all la la la. I'm just saying....umm, I'm saying we can deal. I'm also saying pass me the whiskey....
