a quote from my commentary
Sep. 17th, 2002 03:02 amWhen I read this article [http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=dexfarkin&itemid=25109&view=93973#t93973] about romance in fanfiction that I picked up from someone on my friends' list, I gave a long response.
But this part of it I was really proud of:
"If all you're getting is romances, maybe you're reading the wrong fiction. Don't assume because it has a pairing label that the pairing is the goal. A story might be labeled MSR yet involve nothing more than mild Mulder/Scully flirting while standing outside Skinner's office or occaisional googly-eyd lookes while cutting up a corpse. Meanwhile the rest of the 130K fic is about the the flu-inducing demon released on a helpless Texas public by a mad scientist within the embittered French government after the Europeans decided they also hated Bush Jr. And yet, there was that MSR warning in the title! Scary!"
So...yeah, I was resorting to immaturity a bit there. But I still am immature. I'm not even twenty. So there. :P
