Grossest movie moment ever: Black Hawk Down, Josh Hartnett's character digging into the hole in his comerade's thigh and holding the man's gushing arteries together with his fingers while the medic tries to clamp it down and sew it.

Scariest movie moment ever: The old psychic woman's face appearing through the closet door to the huddled children in The Others.

Most horrifying movie moment ever: A Simple Plan, the shoot-out at the end, with the housewife getting shotgunned in the stomach, and everything already snowballed in the movie spiralling down even deeper into the final level of Hell someone's life can possibly encompass.

Saddest movie moment ever: Saving Private Ryan, when the mother/housewife watches down the road as a black car approaches down her drive, and the chapman/priest and the military liason step out of the car, and she collapses silently onto her porch at the sight of them.

Strongest movie disaster sequence ever: Titanic, the sinking.

Well, as I said in my LJ, this whole scene is fantabulous.... until Rose says that craptacular line. I saw it on Christmas Day with my family, and I nearly got assaulted by 499 other audience members when I burst into hysterical laughter at that moment.

(Annie told me earlier that she was 14 when it came out. GOD, that makes me feel old. I was in grad school. ;)

It's funny. Overall, my movie taste trends toward indies, complex character-driven dramas, and Kevin Smith comedies.... but damn, I love seeing stuff get blown up by aliens or smashed to bits by the weather.

I like disaster movies too. And the disaster was the best part of Titanic-- the scope and sense of magnificence of the ship is what carried the movie-- and its sinking was just so awesomely done. The love story was great too, but it was secondary.

This'll make you feel old-- I was in eigth grade when it came out in theaters. I'm 18 and in college now. :)

...sorry, didn't mean to depress, just a bit of teasing! It doesn't feel like it was that long ago though.

Now that I think about it... Kevin Smith would be the perfect guy to make a movie for 'The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. That irreverant humor that mocks all things other people take seriously... add Jim Carrey as Arther and we've got a winner...
