Stayed up to watch JM on Kilborn tonight.

He's such a dork.

It's so adorable.

Also, I think I've finally gotten used to his natural American accent---actually it totally differentiates him from Spike in my mind now. Anyway, it wasn't a surprise to hear him speak like that this time, like it has been in the past when I watched clips or the last time he was on Politically Incorrect.

Weirdly, I might like it more than the English accent, at least on JM-- not Spike. The accent is sexier, but his regular voice makes him sound like the people I talk to everyday, like the boys I went & currently go to school with, like everyone I've ever met with a western-U.S.-born accent. And that's sexy too, cause it makes him sound more accessible. I've always liked dorky-cute guys, whihc James Marsters definitely is. Well, I like sexy/cool guys too, but I've got a soft spot in my heart for the geeky yet sweet ones.

Also, his facial expressions are quite different from Spike's. His entire body language, in fact. It's like he couldn't sit still. Spike's character has always seemed very energized, but there were times when he would be very still. Especially in scenes wiht Drusilla or Bufffy. And Spike was never as wriggly and bouncy as JM always seems to be in interviews and stuff. Did anyone notice his propensity for hand gestures? So adorable. I feel like I want to kiss the man, and then sell him Ritalin (or whatever that drug is called.)

How embarrassing about the landromat anectdote. 30-40 something year old guy and these 13-year-olds think he's trying to pick them up. Yep, that's one to teach you humility, huh?

His excitement over meeting Liza Minelli was adorable too. I wondered while waiting for him to come on if they'd be meeting back stage or not. He seemed so jazzed to shake her hand and that she knew who he was.

Hmmm...
Overall Opinion-

James is charming.

Kilborn is too tall. :pout: He makes the average-sized JM look short. And his jokes aren't that funny. Conan O'Brian is better.

Liza is a hoot. She looks great and seems to be a fun guest, quite willing to answer questions in good humor. And her husband looks nice.

This is a carry-over from another conversation I had in November, long time ago. It talks about the flaws in the fanatical B/A-er perception of Buffy's character (as I've oserved from visiting othe boards), and then about some differences in how Spike and Angel each loved Buffy.

Fics everyone ought to read, w/ recent updates:

1. Buffy's Season Noir, by [livejournal.com profile] eliade.
Like this fic needs a rec from amateur little me? ha. funny.
Updated chapter 12.

2. Recidivism, by Cosmicfish.
One of the most entertaining & interesting ways I've ever seen someone play with an alternate universe fic, only to turn around on you and make it not quite AU at all, but rather something else entirely.
Updated chapter 20.

3. Sang et Ivoire, by Holly.
I've already rec'd this one to hell and back. If you haven't read it yet, too bad for you--really.
Updated chapter 40.

Just watched the music video to Christina Aguillera's "Beautiful" while making a sandwhich.

Interesting vid. I liked it. There was an older male crossdresser slowing dressing up, and two gute guys making out on a bench. Also a starving girl and a very pretty, slim black girl--I didn't quite get what she had to angst about. Maybe because she wasn't like the white models in all the magazines she was looking at? If that was it, I say look at Halle Berry, chica. That's the most gorgeous woman in hollywood-- in the face, anway.

Anyway, I liked the video I think because its unusual to me to see two homosexual, attractive guys portrayed in a sweet, romantic way on any kind of television media. Usually that kind of thing ends up being some kind of comedy relief or twisted message; this was just kind of cute. With tongues.

Could my mind be any happier tonight?

First I get a bunch of yummy fic updates (Season Noir, Recindivism, Sang et Ivoire, and recently-- Bag of Bones).

Then I get the real treat:

A friend informs me that novelist Stephen King has put up on his website the prologue to the upcoming fifth book of the series The Dark Tower.

Considering that this is my favorite story of any book or series I've ever read--- more than LotR, more than Hitchhiker's Guide, more than any one novel-- well, I'm pretty jazzed, you could say. Yeah, just a little.
