Wheeee! Terri Botta updated with chapters 45-47 of his fic Here Is Gone.

If anyone hasn't read it, they ought to. It's not the most amazing narrative style out there, but its quite good, and the best part is the story concept on the whole, and how thoroughly that conecept is being carried out. What am I talking about? Well, it starts in the demon cave. Only, Spike's wish isn't exactly what you think... he not only gets his soul, but his wish for the chance "to make it right". Before he knows it, he's flung back two years in time, to the beginning of season 5...

Really, this is a cool fic. My favorite part is chapter 18 or so, when Giles interrogates Spike... this whole thing is cool. Go read it.

I'm sitting here using a school computer, feeling wretchedly ill. My nose alternates dramatically from stuffy to running like water... sometimes both at the same time. On the plus side I've cleaned out about a third of my e-mail inbox, and I remembered to bring my copy of 'The Merchant of Venice' to class today.

Flirted with a cute 24-year-old from Africa while standing in line. He spoke very quietly, with a noticable but not off-putting accent, which worked out nicely because I was talking quietly too-- being sick and throat-scratchy and all. He said his name was Peter, but I wonder if he changed or adopted it, because that's a fairly Euro-American name.

Also saw a high school friend and said high while she walked past. I'm so horrible at keeping up with people. She was one the people I really hung out with last year, but after summer I hadn't called her at all. And I've been beating myself up for not calling my friends for months now. I did try calling one in October (because A, I missed her and B, she had my Fight Club DVD---I was hoping to reaquire both friend and DVD at the same time), but her phone line was dead, and I didn't see her the few times I went by her house.

Though sick and wreteched, I'm looking forward to this afternoon, when I'll be going to visit a young woman my family knows from the San Jose Sailing Club. She works for a congressman (I think), and she offered to let me shadow her for a day to see what working in that kind of affice was like. I'm very excited. He is a Republican, eeew, but he's still a politician so this is going to be cool.

fun quiz!

This is a cool answer. Zhaan, Aeryn, or Harvey would have been fun too.

Who the FRELL are you? A Farscape Personality Quiz.

brought to you by Quizilla

SIP: Sin-In-Pants. You are John Chrichton, and you kick ASS! Though the people around you may not understand anything you say, it's all right because your're the man with the plan. Plus, nobody looks better in leather.

So, I've watched the new Matrix trailer a few times online. In the biggest size available, because of our lovely DSL.

Looks v. v. kickin'. I'm glad Trinity is still the love interest; I hate it when movies give you a neat female lead, play it up as true love, and then she's mysteriously gone for the sequel, and the manly man main character is suddenly kissing/doing a new girl each time.

Let's here it for an action hero with some commitment!

Also, let's here it for love that lasts in the face of a war with post-apocalyptic psychotic machines driven by human batteries!

Let's here it for fifty Elronds running around in suits!

I hate the construction of this sentence:

The vampire the Slayer's troop had rushed into that horrid room to rescue hung directly above them.

It's too, too... something. Am I taking too long to get to the action verb (hung)? Is it too many perpositional phrases? WHAT?

I hate it. But I've tried it six or seven ways and I still can't make it sound good.

Could any of the LJ writer people (or for that matter anyone else) save my mind here and tell me how to make this sentence sound better? Rearrange it, cut it to pieces, whatever... I just hate it as it is and don't know how to fix it.

Coughing on a dry, cracked throat sucks. Being ill sucks. I need new fic. I need to stop cloggin people's friends lists with average 4 updates a day.

....

I was just examining my friends list, and I already feel like I have way too many people. There's so much to read every day. And yet, I can't bear to boot anyone because their LJs are all so fun, and (most) all their lives sound far more interesting than mine.

So, instead of being efficient and trimming my list, I went ahead and added two more.

[livejournal.com profile] evemac because she's commented on my journal for a while now, and I love the books she chose the first lines from, and because she likes Spuffy and seems to have terribly neat opinions in the comments she leaves.

[livejournal.com profile] cavalaxis, who I don't even think I've ever conversed with, but who for some reason friended me (which still flatters me, as I am not yet jaded to LJ). I added her because when I browsed her journal, the first line of her latest entry was this:

Crazy headed creature: (n). when your thoughts are like a junk drawer, and your emotions like the burger wrappers that blow out of the back of your car when you open the door.

I love this description. Some people grab my attention from the first sentence (not to say that the ones who grab me by teh fourth of fifth are any less cool), and that makes me spontaneously decide that I will like them ever after, barring some horrible act of BigBadness. I probably would have friended [livejournal.com profile] cavalaxis just from reading her LJ, even if she'd not added or known about me at all.

Also: Congrats again to [livejournal.com profile] dragolyn for joining us Mods at CW! Good on you, Trisha. :) Now, I have to tell you before I forget: every time we get a new mod, we go on a snipe hunt. What's a snipe hunt, you say? Well, you'll like it; goes like this...
