New thing I've learned tonight. Or possibly just had reinforced.

Watching Buffy with the parents is not good. I no longer feel self-conscious about it (thank god), but they're annoying. They keep asking canon questions in the middle of important dialogue. Questions they woudln't have to ask if they'd pay attention to the whole episode while it's on. For instance, if they'd bothered to listen during the "Previously on..." then I wouldn't have had to spend commercials and some ep time explaining the whole Willow/Tara/Warren/Kennedy thing. And they make noise. They talk and shuffle and do things in the background that they wouldn't be doing if we were all watchign West Wing or 24.

Basically, it's distracting, and keeps me from getting fully immersed in what I'm watching. I have to rewatch the ep now cause I missed some of the B/S dialogue, and the Giles dialogue.

Rats.

And to top it off, my dad actually said out loud:

"I've been trying to think of why this is successful and Charmed isn't."

Evil. Heresy.

Spewing from the mouth of my own blood kin.

"Because one's better written and better acted."

"Is it?" Fume. Silent, horrid, fuming. Smoke from ears, but hiding it well.

"Yes. I only started this last year, but I get totally interested in it. Charmed is cute, but I can walk out of an episode at any moment and not think about it again ever. Buffy I have to stay and see what happens."

"But they're the same concept, right?" That's my head, right there imbedded in the wall. Can you see it?

"No. Charmed is a rip-off. It came after, by about 3 years. And it's not as popular because it's not as good."

"So it's a spin-off then?"

"No. It came way later, and tried to get the same audience. But it's boring."

Finally. Commercial time over. Oh, look! Saved by Gun!Happy!Willow. Good. Evil, blasphemous conversation is over now.

Sorry for the many posts today, friends.

I'm just gonna rec a good video that I watched tonight. I really, really think I like this song. It's catchy and addictive and Spike-ish.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] sassangel made this cool vid a bit ago and put it up at Crumbling Walls. Nicely done it is. And again, love the song.

wow. Go here: http://www.buffyverse.info/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1617

I think it might be the character drawings for the possible Buffy cartoon.

Buffy looks hot but snotty. And when did she wear goth lipstick?

Giles is even kinda cute as a cartoon.

Willow has chicken legs. Wait, no, they all do.

Xander has a big neck. But at least he got a realistic body shape.

::snicker:: Angel looks SO OOOOOLLD!!! And kind of Bruce Wayne-ish.

Cordelia has the pointiest boobs this side of Townsville. ANd she looks like an evil villaness who moonlights as a lawyer...hey! She looks like Lilah!

Joyce and Dawn look perfect. Except Dawn's chicken legs, like every other girl.

Heh. Snyder's face isn't triangular enough or funny enough.

Hoooo--kaayyy... what kind of monsters are these? I don't see any vampires here. But that's a cool, if armless, dragon.

I'm conflicted.

My friend had a ticket to SJ's State of the City Address, and she couldn't go so she gave it to me. It's an invite only thing.

I kinda want to go, but I kinda don't. Well, I don't want to go alone. But then again it might be neat. Probably educational. Maybe I could get extra credit in my PoliSci class.

"...there should be a play."

::cackle::

tonight's Angel spoilers )

It's ironic... I saw Wesley's character first on AtS. I watched the ep where Cordy gets her mind overwhlemed and they find out about the Shansu prophecy... then I went at least a year without seeing another Angel ep. I thought Wesley was pretty cute then-- in that smart-guy/glasses-are-hot way. Then I got into Buffy (Season 6) and saw Wesley in FX repeats... didn't recognize him as the same guy until I learned through fandom that he was on Angel, in the same character.

Now, I'm so feeling the luv. In case you didn't catch me the first time--- Wes is hot. Fucked up, but hot.
