The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

I'm back from my cousins' house. I had a good time-- my dad's entire family was there, the only exception beign my brother. I got to see my Utah cousins and-- even better-- my uncleK & cousin from Minnesota. As I already said, they stayed one night with us before driving with us to Santa Rosa.

I spent Saturday shopping in San Francisco with cousin E (younger sis to the graduating twins) and Utah cousin L (who is two days older than me and graduated last year also). It was enjoyable, but a bit of a waste. L's first time in San Francisco for more than the airport, and she spends it at JCrew. Of course, that's what she wanted to do, and I suppose she needed the clothes, but if it were me I would have done something touristy.

On Saturday night we drove down to SF again, this time just me and Rob (graduation cousin, boytwin). He knew about this local band punk concert, and I was the only one who was willing to go. That's cool though-- Rob's great car company. He agreed that the shotgun rider (me) controlled the stereo and navigated, while the driver (him) paid attention to the road. We eventually worked out a good system of warning for upcoming turns, and switched roles for the way home. I'm a better driver than he is, but he's had his liscence for less time. As most of you probably know, driving with the wrong person can make your trip just hell. A good car companion is worth their weight in middle eastern oil.

The punk concert was at this place called The Pound, on pier 96. I'd never been there. We listened to Cushion Theory, Subincision, and The Dot-Commies, and some other band I didn't catch the name of. To my disappointment, I realized yet again that I'm not cut out for real punk. I'm an Alterative girl, down to my very soul. I like pop-punk (green day, no doubt, offspring), but regular punk where every song sounds the same even when it's not and I can't hear the voices except to know that they're screaming and... I just have to be able to hear a rythm. That's all I require in my music. That it have rythm/beat and not be country.

Anyway, there weren't that many people. My cousin was moshing and kept trying to convince me to join in, but I felt compelled to point out that at even though he was short at least he had substancive width of shoulders, whereas I was tall enough for a girl but had no real muscle mass and would plainly get killed out there. Plus, I kept thinking about how the floor of the club was mostly cement except for a small area with a mat, and wouldn't my brains look really gross spread across the floor?

We stayed at the club from 8:30 till about 11:30, but accidentally missed our freeway exit and took the long way home, over two bridges and through Oakland. We didn't stop in Oakland, being as its like the highest homicide rating town in California and it wa getting late. We did eventually get lost in Petaluma though, when we went looking for a Taco Bell, and then a bathroom. Taco Bell wouldn't let us use theirs. >P But it was a fun, lackadaisical sort of lost, and we got home to Santa Rosa finally around 1:40am. Then we drank lots of soda, chatted, and played on the computers until 3am.

My parents woke me up at 7:30am to drive home. Blegh.

I made a spiffy icon last night with a quote from The Gunslinger, which I'm reading again. Love that book. Love that series.

I also began refining pics for an icon songset of 'Into The Void' by Nine Inch Nails. Spike and NIN, what could be better? Still have to find an appropriate font though.

I'm wearing a really cute shirt right now. It's red. One of those nice tops one finds too rarely that manages to be flattering to your neck, bust, stomach, and skin tone all at the same time.

I have finals next week. Big hurrah. And then I start the summer quarter-- god knows why, but I'm going to have to go. I'm taking three classes too, all two hours each. Watch me jump for joy. At least I'll have a four day weekend.
