timepiececlock: (lightning struck my brain)
So why, again, aren't any of my LJ comments appearing in my email?

Stupid LJ.

Through some strange twist of fate, the dude who came up with the Components format for LJ (who is not a Buffy, anime, or Rashaka fan) randomly commented on my journal, talking about it.

This kind of thing normally doesn't happen to me, but it did, and I count it quite fortuitous.

Anyway, he came up with a set of instructions for Addition customizations for Component, including:

-line spacing
-adding additional boxes (components) for either an image or more text

It's very useful. I'd also reccomend reading the post comments; they should help clarify as well.

For my own, I created a second text box. It's over on the right. The first box has lyrics from 'Another Horsedreamer's Blues' by Counting Crows. The second box is an original haiku I thought up to test the space. I kinda like it so I'll keep it for a while.

I was telling [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_ that she should spend future spare time putting music by The Tea Party into videos or icon sets for Spuffy.

In order that she might know what the heck I'm talking about, I put two songs up online for download.

I'm posting the links here; they'll be up for a few days.

If you're having trouble downloading from those links, try it here: http://www.anyanka.net/rashaka_things/

If you like good music, I recommend you download them and have a listen. If you like music that you can pair with BTVS in your head, listen. If you like cool lyrics, listen.

I originally discovered this band through a trilogy of dark/sexy S/B fanfics set in season 6:

1. Halcyon Days
2. Cathartik
3. Mantra

These are wonderful reading, short but rich.

Both songs are "rock" I guess, but the band's style is a little different. Cathartik, especially, is almost creepy in its instrumental sound. To be honest I didn't even like it at first-- I thought it sounded scary. And then I listened to it again, and the meaning and signficance began to sink it. And then I loved it: sound, words, and all. The Messenger I just adored from the outset: the song is freakin' addictive. I can listen to it on constant repeat without a worry.

I read another review of the Buffy finale:
http://www.stakeme.com/episodes/episode_722.html

I don't agree with a lot of it, but some of the comments about Spike's sacrifice I found thought-provoking:

As a nifty side effect, Angel, the original souled vampire seeking redemption, suddenly gains new resonance. If Spike, whose simple goals of wanting to love and be loved led him to "follow his blood" into a state of selfless grace that Angel, who has been intentionally looking for redemption all along, has yet to reach.... what does that say about the entire idea of redemption? That Angel himself provided the fateful talisman only amplifies this question, and gives food for thought until the next season of Angel's own show, in which we're already being told that Spike will reappear. Is fate playing a cruel trick, or is Angel, the much-lauded vampire of prophecy, not really so special after all?

The point of Angel, who seeks redemption but has yet to find it, indirectly _providing_ the tool by which his protege (because that's what Spike is, in a way) achieves his final redemption, hasn't really occurred to me. I guess that would have interesting philosophical implications.
