IY Rec: Of Gods And Monsters

Stayed up late last night reading Of Gods And Monsters, a particularly splendid Inu Yasha epic fic. Like 270,000 words, nearly hal;f of which I'd read a previous time. I am just floored when I think about the thing as a whole.. it starts as a romance between Sesshoumaru and an original character that's an exiled greek goddess, and as MarySueish as that sounds, it's not-- especially when the story changes midway and she's not a goddess anymore. The second half brings in all the other IY characters and main pairings very strongly. Turns out the author writes Inu/Kag and Miroku/Sango as well as Sesshoumaru/OC. And what a wonderfully complex plot.

So I stayed up really late last night. Like 5am. Then I got up at 7am and took my poddle to get his fur cut at this little grooming place. Then I went straight home and slept till about 1:15 pm.

At about 3pm the old lady calls from the groomers and asks if anyone's going to come pick up Shadow. I said "Uh...sure. I'll come over now. Did you call earlier to say he was done?" She said yeah. I shrugged and went to go pick him up.

While I was there I asked her if she'd left a message because there weren't any on the machine. She said, no, she talked to me.

I stared for a second and kinda blinked. "Umm. I don't think so. I don't remember any such conversation." She insists that she did. I say, "No, that's very strange. Did you call the wrong number? Because I'm the only one home and I slept for several hours right when I came home."

She said the person she talked to sounded kind of out of it, or drugged or something, and had promised to be over in an hour. Which, I guess, was like 2 hours ago. I still have absolutely NO recollection of any of this. I did not wake up for any phone calls, because if I had I would have just gotten up and come to pick him up right then.

I finally gave up and went back to my car, carrying Shadow and thinking furiously.

God, what other phone conversations have I been having while I was asleep?

It's enough to make a person kinda nervous.

side note of mild interest: She has an interesting east coast accent, which I didn't really notice until the last line, and her pronunciation of Nevada as "Nevahdah." People with West Coast accents pronounce it "Nevaada" with the first "a" sound being like "cat" or "hat".

So this is weird. It's a vid using the credit music music and box-in-a-box credit imagery from Angel the series, but made with Sailor Moon characters. The timing is good, but the character matches kinda threw me off.

I definitely agree with the whole Mamoru/Endymoin = Angel/Angelus match. A good choice, and the only one you can make, really, given the limited number of male SM characters. And Rei as Cordelia... also good. But Ami as Faith? No way. That should be Makoto/Lita, or even better, Haruka (Uranus). And besides, Faith isn't even in the Angel credit sequence. And what's up with Usagi's dad as Wesley?? ::shakes head:: Tssk. I would have used... well, Ami, actually, gender aside. And if not her, then Andrew, since these clips all seem to be from season 1.

I would have done it as such:

Angel/Angelus= Mamoru (Darien)/Endymoin
Cordelia= Rei (Raye)
Wesley= Andrew *
Lorne= Artemis
Fred= Ami (Amy)
Gunn= Makoto (Lita)

* can never remember his name in Japanese. been far too long since reading any fic. years.

Currently watching the Chappell Show. How come I've never watched this before? It's really surprisingly funny. And usually he kinda annoys me. But they just had Evil!HappyKiller!Cancelled!WayneBrady, which you can't help but snort at.

Tonight I've watched some anime on the Cartoon Network already and plan to watch more later. After all, Wolf's Rain premiers tonight! As do the new InuYasha dub episodes!


I watched the second half of a Yu Yu Hakashu episode, and CN obviously acquired a new season since the last time I watched that show. I also, to my own mixed feelings, found myself watching DragonballGT. And wanting to know what's going on, and wanting to watch more. That's a bad sign. I'm already over the DBZ fandom! YOU HEAR ME, INTERNET! I AIN'T GOING BACK NO MATTER HOW MANY TRUNKS SCENES THERE ARE!
