::blink:: Huh. Wow. I'd...have to place that in one of the top 10 episodes of Naruto. Ever.

I mean, I don't like Sasuke, but... that was a good episode. It was a good use of flashbacks, it was beautifully animated, and made excellent use of mood and pacing.

I'm surprised. And pleased. And now very hopeful for 132.

I'm also thinking it's such a pity that I feel crappy for the younger version of Sasuke, but he grows up into such a fucktard that by the time he gets to where he is now I don't like him at all. The decent spirit of the kid inside him is as good as gone. And even though I know he chooses not to fullfill the last requirement, that's not done out of decency, but selfishness, and his choice to go to Sound damns him just as much. If anything that choice means more people killed in the long run than just the single act of killing one's best friend.

And that was an even BETTER episode. Daaaayyymmm.

thougts and reactions )

Parting thoughts: I love Naruto and I think Kakashi's voice is too fucking sexy for this show. And I don't find voices speaking Japanese sexy very often.

EDIT: Upon rewatching certain parts, I have to say that younger!Naruto looks cuter than younger!Sasuke in this episode. And if Sasuke grows up to look like Itachi and Naruto grows up to look like the 4th (you totally know he will!), Naruto's gonna be the one getting the dates.

Also, I'm never ever gonna stop using this icon. Cause it will never not be appropriate.

EDIT: I also had some post-132 thoughts on the Kakashi scenes here:

Sheesh. Trying to psychoanalyze that guy is hard.

You know what I've really appreciated about the last 4 or 5 episodes? They make better use of silence. Sometimes Naruto, both the anime and the manga, likes to fill up silence with lots of words. Lots of explaining, lots of analyzing.

In the last few eps, though, especially this one and the last one, there's just been a lot heavier use of silence as a mood device.

Thank you. It's working beautifully.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] donna_c_punk,

I came across this fic on your favorites list on ff.net.

I consider it a high crime that you, knowing that Kakashi/Kabuto is my Naruto OTF, did not tell me about this fic.

What do you have to say for yourself?

Busy reading fic now,

EDIT: Okay, given that the publish date says it was only uploaded to ff.net yesterday, I'm prepared to grant you a bit of leeway.

Still... even 24 hours can be too long! When there's Kabuto/Kakashi fic out there that's actually hot and stuff.

I was reading [livejournal.com profile] coffeee_and_ink's year in anime post, and she gave the following description for Full Metal Alchemist. It highlights one of the aspects of the show that I loved so much, that kept me enthralled:

What I love second-best about it is the unflinching examination of the consequences of misuse of power. Nothing will save any of the characters from the consequences of what they do, good or bad: not innocence, not ignorance, not good intentions, not intelligence, not strength. The farther the series goes, the clearer it becomes that consequences don't end: they just snowball. The rules of this world are: You get what you pay for, and you pay for everything you get.

WANRING: Very vague but significant spoilers now in the comments.
