May. 21st, 2005 08:44 pmWhoever it was that told me about Wendlee Lee (voice of Faye Valentine) voicing the woman seducing Mugen (voice of Spike) in a Samurai Champloo episode, and how weird and karmic it was... you were so right. Damn, it's weird.
...Ugh. Just saw an advertisement for S-cry-ed being shown on AS sometime. That show was such pointless stupidity. I had to stop after 8 episodes. Makes me sad to see it on AS.

And have I mentioned lately that I'm not really a dub IY fan, either?
Is this the first or second movie? I thought that was the title of the second movie, but if Kiklala is evil then it sounds like the first movie.
Which I didn't like in subbed and see NO reason to watch in dubbed.

Sunny came home to her favorite room
Sunny sat down in the kitchen
She opened a book and a box of tools
Sunny came home with a mission
She says days go by I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Sunny came home with a list of names
She didn't believe in transcendence
It's time for a few small repairs she said
Sunny came home with a vengeance
She says days go by I don't know why
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Get the kids and bring a sweater
Dry is good and wind is better
Count the years, you always knew it
Strike a match, go on and do it
Days go by I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Light the sky and hold on tight
The world is burning down
She's out there on her own and she's alright
Sunny came home
Sunny came home...
There's something about this song that's always caught me. The way it's sung is pretty and the melody is catchy... but the lyrics are just unsettling when closely examined. Maybe that's why I've always loved it. Like "You Oughtta Know" by Alanis Morrisette is my 'angry-girl' song, "Sunny Came Home" is my 'girl goes insane and takes revenge on the world and kicks ass smartly and prettily' song.
I'd apply it to a fandom character, but I've never thought of one before. I guess it'd work for Veronica Mars, but Veronica isn't quite sociopathic enough... it could also work for The Bride in Kill Bill... but then again the character in this song is an arsonist, not a samurai assassin.
Hm... actually, it weirdly reminds me of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket, if, you know, she one day went crazy and started burning everything down. The song has an even, methodical attitude that I associate with Tohru.
