Besides poetry writing and journalism writing, I'm also taking Critical Political Theory.

I think I'm going to love this class. You know what we talked about today?

The philosophies of Hegel, Feuerbach, and Marx. Of the three, I'm definitely a Feuerbach person.

The other class I'm taking is studio ceramics. Which is good. It's been nearly a year and a half since I've taken a studio art class. I *need* an art class.

After nearly a year, God of the Lost has been updated.

It is, bar none, the finest Harry Potter fic I have ever read. It's one of the finest adventure fanfictions I have ever read. It is the scariest fanfiction I have ever read. (Just thinking about the frogs or the unicorns makes me want to seriously freak out. THIS FIC RUINED UNICORNS FOR ME.)

I am fanatically pleased that it's still in progress. Because we're building to a climax and I've got emotional investment in the outcome.

(It took 19 chapters but I finally realized what the title meant. Whee!)

Thing to know: Technically it's labelled HG/DM, but really, that's a misnomer. This is pretty damn far from romantic. It's... insane and scary and brilliant and reads like a fucking roller coaster. Half the story's about those two and their battle for survival, and the other half's about Hogwarts. Imagine full-scale interhouse war. Out of even the teacher's control. Now take what you just imagined, and make it five times cooler.

That's this fic.

Screw book 6. Book 6 was good, but if it had been half as awesome as God of the Lost, JKR's already happy pocketbook would have grown to three times its size.

Dear me. It seems as if reading the new chapter of "God of the Lost" suddenly renewed my sooper seekrit pairing vice of Draco/Hermione HP fic.

You know what's odd? I can't ship any mainstream or canon pairings for the HP books. I've tried. I fail. I inevitably come back to Draco/Hermione, Harry/Luna, Neville/Ginny, and Hermione/Lupin.

Oddly, I've always been put off by Hermione/Snape. Maybe because I read the first four books before watching any of the movies? But to me Snape is always going to be an ugly, oily, creepy, bitter middle aged man. I  Alan Rickman but I'm sorry, that's what Snape is.

I've also never been able to get into romance fics with Ron-- at least not unless it's a love triangle and he's on the losing side. I like Ron as the eternal sidekick and support. I like him as a subplot, as a commenter from the sidelines. That's how I like my fic!Ron.

I continue to enjoy fanfic about Draco while relishing in his indignity in canon. ::shrug::

Hermione I like as background and as a main character. Heck, I like her in fanfiction often more than in the actual books. But then again, I'm not terribly fond of most of JKR's portrayal of female characters.

I love any fic with Luna. And I really hate that she got shafted in the 6th book. And Neville! What was up with that? That's shoddy writing, building them both up in book 5 then having like two scenes in book 6.

I think Lupin/Tonks is a cute pairing, and actually is sort of like the canon version of some of the Hermione/Lupin fics I've read, but as fic goes they don't interest me that much after all, I've found.

Harry... I like him by himself or with Luna. Or occasionally with some other random non-canon character. But mostly with Luna.

Dman it's been a while since I've played around with HP fic.
