Title: "Eight Crazy Pilots Serenity Didn't Keep"

Author: [livejournal.com profile] tassosss

Rating: PG

Fandoms: Firefly, Farscape, SGA, SG1, Star Wars, BSG

Spoilers: a lot

Why you should read it: It builds up my heart and breaks it with every drabble. I love Serenity/Firefly fics that crossover with other space shows, and this doesn't disappoint. The two Farscape drabbles twisted my heart.

Link: River found John Crichton making pictures in the clouds from a rooftop. He had pretty drawings on his arms that danced in five dimensions and talked to the creature in his head who wore funny memories. He was surprised when she talked back to them both.

There was no new Avatar tonight. Although disappointing (and I had the tv all to myself tonight, too), it's good in a way because it gives me a chance to write that fanfic I've thought about writing for two weeks. I thought I was screwed last week because they were going to resolved the Appa thing, but to my surprise Appa's episode just set up everything nicely for the fic. Then I was busy all this week and didn't write anything... and I found out there's no new episode to joss my fic ideas, and in fact might not be an episode next week either.

It's like the universe is putting off airing the new episode until I write my fic. Which is neat. It'd be great, in fact, if it wasn't for this damn writer's block.

I'm totally frelling blocked right now. I want to write... but I got nothin'. I tried with some entries for [livejournal.com profile] irrel's AU challenge, but even those were pretty bland, and not my best work. One was too obvious and the other suffered because I didn't know where to end it.

I think I need to read more Ivanhoe. The book is strangely paced, and full of odd details in the descriptions, but damn if I'm not getting into it. Saxons! Normans! Crusaders and loyal goatherds! ...I have my suspicions only 60 pages in about the identity of a certain character being not quite what he says, and we'll have to see where it goes. Maybe some quality reading time will help me over my writer's block.

I loved this episode... it was actually my favorite of the new season so far. When Ryan was first introduced I never thought I'd come to enjoy his character as much as I have. He's a bit off-putting because of how openly disdainful of the office and his coworkers that he is at times, but yet you can't really fault him for feeling that way, given the office that he works in. And he's started to "join the family" as it were. episode spoilers )

... and I admit sometimes I'm tempted to forget that I'm watching a tv show and not real, actual people. The documentary style is so damn tricksy like that, paired with the writing and the acting that goes into it.

My favorite quote, on the subject of singing:

"Oh come on, stop it. That's not fair. That is not a proportional response."

End thought: I squeed for the Jim & Pam moment. I am easily to please, and it was quite pleasing.

I laughed a lot.

There was pointing at the tv and laughing. Don't be disheartened, because I actually enjoyed this episode more than the other three so far.

But dude, I laughed a lot.

To be honest, I also laughed the first time I saw the end of Cowboy Bebop, so keep in mind that my sense of humor is sometimes not the same as other folks. I really did laugh at this BSG episode, though. It was funny.
