I used the word "skeevy" in conversation last night. My mom didn't know what it meant, so I had to explain that it meant something along the lines of gross or nasty or repellent.

It wasn't until this morning, in the Open Media Lab at school, that I remembered where I had unconsciously picked up the word:

Song: "She eats these skeevy cheeses that I can't describe."

Yeah. Once more, with feeling.

Truly, am addicted to this show. And it's ending tonight. Am v. v. sad.

I always thought that he said "skeezy" like:

skeezy. adj. weird, creepy. [Portmanteau word forsketchy [q.v.] and sleazy.] “There’s a skeezy guy who wanders around the halls at night.”

That's what I thought too. I actually use the word skeezy all the time - I've seen people use 'skeevy' online, but I've never heard it in real life.

Weird. :)

Hmmm... you could be right it.

I vote for "skeevy" (though I've heard it both ways) because I think it comes from a handful of my favorite Italian words: un schifo or una schifezza (n., a disgusting thing), or schifoso (adj., disgusting). My good friend the Italian doctoral student and I love to use these words.

I do not vouch for my spelling, since my Italian dictionary is at home.

Hm. I've been thinking about it all day, and I think Xander did say "skeezy" in the song, but I've also decided I like "skeevy" better for just saying.

Your "No Ticket" icon is a shout-out to Indiana Jones III, right?

Actually, it was a shout out to Dogma. But now that you mention it, Dogma was probably giving homage to Indiana Jones.

Also, it was a shout out to Crazy!Basement!Spike, aka Pass-checker.
