People who are fanatically religious are butt-fuck crazy.

Just conversations with them drive me crazy.

There was this guy out in the quad at my school. He had a bible out and was standing on a stage, spouting about how he gets depressed and thinks about suicide because Democrats and people like Gray Davis aren't thinking of commiting suicide--since they're all "babykillers."

::Shudder::

Shit makes me want to scream.

Another student got into a debate about him with afterlife, and reincarnation, and the other religions in the world that don't preach heaven or hell. Then the student told him to jump from the tree with no feet, and we'll all get to see where he goes. ::snicker:: The guy (who was white) apparently wasn't absorbing the fact that the multi-ethnic population that is California means the people he's talkin' to often don't have christian backgrounds.

I went up to him and asked him if he thought people who support abortion deserve to die, like he said earlier. He said yes.

I asked him if he thought it was morraly right of him to wish deaht on another person.

He said, if the bible says so. X( What a jerk. More than a few people around us reacted to THAT statement, you can imagine.

I told him wishing death on another person was wrong, always.

He took that opportunity to start on again about how "killing babies" was evil. I walked away shaking my head at a lost cause--him.

Now I wish I'd stayed around long enough to say "If you wish they'd die then you're no better than people you hate. I hope you spend your next life as a toad that gets run over by a car taking a woman to an abortion clinic."

But of course, I didn't think of that until after I'd made a strategic exit from that pointless conversation.

It was funny watching the people around him though. This one guy in a tight black shirt, with a very short bleached mohawk and a tattoo kept waving his fingers at the guy and making funny faces.

Religious fananatics are just plain crazy. I have no problems with the idea of religion itself- whatever rocks your boat, y'know? But when people twist doctrine to suit their personal beliefs, that pisses me off. Like the phrase, "Spare the rod, spoil the child"- it DOES NOT mean that you're supposed to hit your kid to make them behave right. It means you have to provide *guidance* for your child, like a sheperd does for his flock. And sheperds carry crooks, so hence the "rod".

Today's random fact has been brought to you by the letter "L" and the number "7"

Was his name "Jed"? His wife's name "Cindy"? We had a couple who used to come scream at everyone while I was in college. I heard one college finally had them thrown in jail for inciting a riot. Heh.
