Date: 2003-06-29 09:38 pm (UTC)Never seen Beaches before, so I went with Titanic, even though *ducks* I secretly love that movie. Could do with the fact that I was shamelessly in love with Leo DiCaprio and had a huge poster of him on my wall with a lot of lipstick smudges on it. Plus, Kate Winslet is gorgeous. I hate her for it. Grr. When I saw the movie, I thought it was the most romantic thing ever.

Date: 2003-06-29 09:43 pm (UTC)And god, "I'll never let go" is one of the Best Lines EVER. It's almost as good as "I'm flying, Jack! I'm flying!" or "I'm the king of the world!" I never understood, by the way, why she said "I'll never let go" and then let go. What the fuck? Though the costumes kicked ass. I wanted Kate Winslet's wardrobe. Especially the hats. ;)

Date: 2003-06-29 09:47 pm (UTC)I think my blahness towards Titanic isn't so much because it's a sappy movie. It's just that it isn't The Best Movie Ever! which everyone seemed to think when it came out. Especially James Cameron.

Date: 2003-06-29 11:00 pm (UTC)-Terms of Endearment
Both very sappy. Of those two, I'd say Terms of Endearment. But even that's got nothing on The Bridges of Madison County. Dude, that's sap like you wouldn't believe. Titanic was sappy, but I really only added because I needed 3 choices. Still, seems to be winning.

Date: 2003-06-29 11:22 pm (UTC)All good lines. As for lines from sappy movies, the one from Bridges of Madison County is pretty good too: "Or what, you want to fuck one more time on the linoleum?" Not a sappy line, but pretty scathing in the context coming from Meryl Streep.
Did you ever watch The Spitfire Grill? Sappy movie. Almost made me cry.
I never understood, by the way, why she said "I'll never let go" and then let go. What the fuck?
I didn't get that either. But once on vacation two years ago my younger cousin and I were playing in the water in Lake Shasta (families were sharing a houseboat), and we had a floaty about the size of Rose's raft. At first we were pushing each other of and fighting for it, but then I got control and he was hanging on the side, and we were both kinda tired from the shoving and dunking, so we amused ourselves very vocally by parody-reinacting that "I'll never let go" scene as loudly, obnoxiously as we possibly could, several times until the "adults" told us to can it.
the costumes kicked ass. I wanted Kate Winslet's wardrobe.
I wanted to be Kate Winslet in that movie. I wanted her CLOTHES, her HAIR, and her Jack. I wanted all of it.

Date: 2003-06-29 11:28 pm (UTC)Mr. Holland's Opus was great, though no "girly sappy" so much.
Most any sappy girly movie? I love.M
You have to watch "The Spitfire Grill". That one will pul your girly heartstrings in a "Terms of Endearment"/"Steel Magnolias" way.
