I'm now eating Mexican food (the people at Mexico Lindo now finally recognize me as a regular--they can't guess my regular chilie verde dish yet, but they do know I'm going to come in a 8:30-9:30 and ask for take-out), and reading Harry Potter.

Yes, I finally spent money this time. Which I'd never done for any HP product before, ever. I was planning to wait for the library and not pay a penny, like I had for all the others (except the middle two, that I read over a three-day weekend at my cousins' home.) But now I have it, purchased.

It was forty percent off. Shut up.

I'm on page 10 when I stopped to type this. I love it muchly. Harry Potter is an Angry.Young.Man. I'm pleased. I'd gotten so used to the blandness of the movie-Harry, I'd forgotten that I actually liked book-Harry. I liked this:

Uncle: "Listening to the news? Again!"

Harry: "Well, it changes every day, you see."

The bargain ads in my paper had list "Order of the Phoenix, $10. Freshly read." Maybe you can do that after you finish.

Also, are you still playing drabble tag? And would you like to be tagged?

Good idea. If I don't want it after I'm done, maybe I'll hawk it at my school campus. They have billboards for that sort of thing (normally textbooks).

I jumped out a while ago with the promise to come back.

Now that finals are over, I should do that.

But don't tag me-- I'd have to catch up and read all of what's happened. Has anyone compiled it all into a single story update recently?

The continuity post (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=drabble_tag&itemid=8524) hasn't been updated in about a week, but I think if you read that, the "current" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/drabble_tag/) page, and Sally's post (http://www.livejournal.com/community/drabble_tag/66671.html) from a few hours ago, you'd be OK.

*continues trolling for someone to tag*

Hee. I loved that line. Of course I am on my rereading now... and I bought it... not ashamed to admit it. I mean, the books really are the only HP stuff I buy-well... I've got both movies too... but okay, that's it. None of the other marketing stuff...
And the books are the only must have.

Yeah. Now I'll be spending all next week watching news multiple times in front of people just hoping that someone might ask me, so I can say that line. And that's really not as twisted as it sounds.

Oh no, it doesn't seem that twisted really. I mean, I totally understand. It's the sort of thing I'd do... probably why you're on my friends list, huh?

Oh... and a question for a LotR fan, when is the third movie coming out?

We fandom people do tend to band together. ;)

:scandalized tone: My god, how could you?! You don't know?

Why, mid- December of course. ^_~

First off, Mulder icon, yum.

Secondly, I know, I know... I mean, I should know these things! If you makes you feel any better, I kind of assumed that it would be coming out this winter, but didn't know for certain...

It's actually a fairly clever marketiung scheme. They film the movies al at once (allowing extra time for editign and post-production work), and then release them at the same time each year. Instead of waiting, like for Star Wars, you get a new one each year, at a guaranteed schedule. Very clever, when they weren't sure how the film was going to be recieved. With films like this that run so tightly on the heels of each isntallment (no years or summers pass in between), it keeps people interested.

Did you know the film production company that made LOTR had used all their funds by the time the first movie was released? If the movie flopped, they would have had to file for bankruptcy. Now that's dedication to your art.

Fortunately, they spent 200 million on them in total and earned back 800+ million with the first film alone.

Stupid 9.50 ticket prices.
