You know, a lot of the pairings I like in fandom start with at least one half of the couple trying to kill the other, or both trying to kill each other.
For example:
Blue Seed: Momiji & Kusanagi. He tries to kill her. Gets distracted by another, bigger evil guy. Things go down from there.
Inu Yasha: Inu Yasha & Kagome. She frees him from an eternal sleep spell and he tries to kill her for putting him there in the first place.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Buffy & Spike. Mutual attempted killing on both sides. Then six years of character development happen.
Dragon Ball Z: Vegita & Bulma. He nearly kills her multiple times while trying avidly to kill all her friends. Then he's her houseguest.
Gundam Wing: Heero & Relena. In the 1st episode he whipsers to her in broad daylight in a crowd full of people that he will murder her. Then she takes over the world and he changes his mind to "No, you're actually a cool chick after all. You get a pass."
Cowboy Bebop: Faye & Spike. She robs him blind and they nearly shoot each other several times. Then her getaway ship runs out of fuel.
Farscape: Aeryn & John. She wrestles him to the floor and nearly chokes him to death. It's the start of a beautiful relationship.
Even the ones that don't start out that way, have it sometime along the line... Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yuugi, Witch Hunter Robin. The only ones that don't really are Trigun, Escaflowne, and the X Files. But then again, Scully did shoot Mulder at least once.
