Sep. 26th, 2003 02:23 pmWatched Second-hand Lions t=matinee and caught up with K. Good time. The movie was cute, about what I expected it to be-- that is, an adventure/coming of age story. A boy with a lackluster and flakey mother who drops him off to live with his two great uncles for a summer. However, the story is almost more about the uncles (Caine and Duvall) than about the boy (Haley Osmont, who, by the way, has had his voice change now.) It's amusing and cute, with some darker undertones but not many. The best part were the campy story-book-like flashbacks to the uncles' adventures in Africa and the Middle East.
You Angel fen might be interested to know that Lyndsey the one-armed-man got to play a young Robert Duvall. He had two lines, but many, many scenes jumping around, riding horses, and swordfighting. Took me a while to place the actor, but I did! Just thought it'd be of interest.
