Beta Appreciation Day?
Oct. 14th, 2003 11:47 pmI have no betas.
Because I'm a crackpot fanficcer who can't take criticism worth a damn unless it comes unasked.
I tried. I really did. And they were kind. But I just couldn't handle it. I'm weak that way. I didn't need them to tell me what was wrong, because as soon as I'd give it to someone to beta read, my self-esteem would plummet and I'd want it back and I'd panic and all sorts of horrid things. It left me way, way too stressed. The last time I had something beta-ed by two different people, I couldn't even bring myself to read the second beta's response. I was so tied up in nerves (despite the way professionalness of the first beta's review) that I tabled the whole fic, and it has not to this day seen the light of the internet.
So I don't have a beta. But to the three or four people out there who once tried for me, thanks. Too bad I'm such a nutball that our enjoyable working relationship could go no further.
