So Naruto had 3 slow transitional episodes, and then, WOW! Episode 29 ... very very interesting developments... ... Naruto's berserker nature has appeared again! And this time it's from Sasuke's betrayal, which is *so* cool considering that last time it was that Sasuke was dying to save him. A wonderful parallel-- Naruto can't understand how the Sasuke that would give into emotion and risk his life to save his comerade's is the same boy that gave away the scroll, their only leverage in the battle. So, so cool.... and that snake-stopping thing was just *kick ass*.

And... Huh. I just realized, this little battle means that now Sasuke knows that Naruto is a berserker, and that he's got a big whomping secret. ... that means that he's the only kid in the village besides Naruto himself who knows. That will be interesting when it's picked up again later One thing that I have come to realize for certain is that there's not much that happens that doesn't mean something later. I don't know if that's from the original manga creator or the anime writers, but whoever's doing it has a BtVS-like sense of continuity and plot threads and hints.

Which, as some might feel as well, is one of the absolute best ways to my fan heart.

They did some stuff here that I always like to see-- interesting camera angles and perspect shots, especially the ones that zoom in or out over great distances, or circle around. Anime some times has very interesting screen composition, and sometimes has very boring. At least so far Naruto has has consistantly interesting frame composition and perspectives and angles, for both the slow scenes and the action scenes. It's all smooth and flow-y and fast and cool. Whoever is directing the anime gets BIG points for that, even though the writers lose a few points for stretching out some events too long. Still, this episode was fantastic-- so many things have changed in just one episode, that it makes me look back on the slower paced episodes in awed curiousity. The pacing of this show takes definite getting-used-to. And that seems to be all that I want to do with my time. Get as used to it as possible. Get as much of it as possible.

Oh, and Kakashi's so cool. He wasn't even in this episode, but I wanted to say it anyway. Because he is. Probably my third favorite character, after Naruto and Sakura.

And everyone else is cool too. Damn I love this show. And I want to see the opening of season 2 without the text credits in the way of the prettiness...
