The Romantic Gut-wrenching Music Has Landed!

(Does anyone have a clean copy of the Matt Nathanson cover of "Laid"? I only have a version ripped from the radio station.)

All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe by The Hollies
I first downloaded this one for my mother, but I fell in love with it too. I even made a Spike/Bffy icon set for it once upon a time. Today it's up for [livejournal.com profile] saava, and her wonderful Air Music Mix. ::waves::

Making love with you, has left me peaceful warm inside
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired
Peace came upon me and it breathes in me
So sleep silent angel, go to sleep

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
Just to have you now
All I need is the air that I breathe you're all I want

Peace came upon me and it breathes in me
So sleep silent angel, go to sleep

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you

2. You Don't Know Me by Jann Arden
This is the version that played in My Best Friend's Weddin, and my favorite cover of this song. It's so... sad yet singable.

And I can hardly speak my heart is beating so
And anyone can tell you think you know me well
But you don't know me

No you don't know the one who dreams of you at night
And longs to kiss your lips longs to hold you tight
Oh I am just a friend
That's all I've ever been
Cause you don't know me

I never knew the art of making love
No my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too

You give your hand to me and then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy
Oh you will never know the one who loves you so
Well you don't know me

You give your hand to me and then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy
Oh you will never know the one who loves you so
Cause you don't know me
Oh no you don't know me

3. Saved The Best For Last by Vanessa Williams
I don't remember when this song came out, except that I always, always liked it. It's sappy but I won't say no to good sap.

'Cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You'd tell me this was love
It's not the way I hoped, or how I planned
But somehow it's enough

But now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place?
Just when I thought a chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

All of the nights you came to me
'Cause some silly girl had set you free
You wondered how you'd make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you
'Cause how could you give your love to someone else
And share your dreams with me
Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

But now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place?
Just when I thought a chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes around the moon
Just when I thought a chance had passed
You go and save the best for last
You went and saved the best for last

4. Song To The Siren by This Mortal Coil
I picked this up somewhere... I think someone recced it to me as an S/B song. All I know is that it's very, very pretty.

On the floating, shipless, oceans
I did all my best to smile
til your singing eyes and fingers
drew me loving into your eyes.
And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me,
Let me enfold you."
Here I am, here I am
waiting to hold you.

Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning,
broken lovelorn on your rocks.
For you sang "Touch me not, touch me not,
Come back tomorrow."
Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow.

I'm as puzzled as a newborn child.
I'm as riddled as the tide.
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or shall I lie with death my bride?
Here me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me,
Let me enfold you."

Here I am, Here I am, waiting to hold you."

5. Who Would've Thought by Rancid
I'm stilling waiting for someone to make me a damned Spike -centric S/B music video to this. ...I'm waiting!

Silhouetted palm trees backing it up against the sky
Echo Park sunset, an ambulance drives by
But someone went down
And I wonder who
Faces flash forward, it could be anybody I knew

So I drank like a fish and I crawled like a rat
Through the city of shit I ended up on my back
But I can't believe you're with me after dark
So let it come together in Echo Park

And I say
Who would've thought that the dreams come true?
And who would've thought I ended up with you?
And who would've thought what they said was true?
But it was and you are, lighted darkness come through

A red flag and your body wins
Or a snake bite, gotta start again
So I'm fucked up and watching TV all day
I don't wanna see what Ricki Lake gotta say

And it hits me when I'm alone, I'm an angry man
I start singing to myself I got dealt a shitty hand
With all these feelings my heart could explode
So is it not fear, knowing it all

And I say
Who would've thought that the dreams come true?
And who would've thought I ended up with you?
And who would've thought what they said was true?
It was and you are, lighted darkness come through

Nah nah nah nah nah

Dude, I used to love "Save the Best for Last." I think I may have associated it with Picard and Crusher or something ancient like that. Gah.

It's like the opposite of "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough." "There's a reason why people don't stay who they are..." Meep!

Of course, the absolute sappiest and yet saddest in that genre has gotta be "'Til You Love Me" by Reba McIntyre. I never listed to country, but a friend copied the album for me. I was on a long trip, and I cried the last half hour home and sang along. 'cause I was all smitten and stupid and I knew it. :)

OOh, i love when people post songs i can d/l. What with the crackdown on Kazaa and such, it gets more and more difficult.

I also really love the Jann Arden cover. have you ever heard her song "Good Mother"? If you can, check it out. Beautiful song and i love her voice.

"song to the siren" is one of my favorite songs ever. i love the TMC (because i love liz fraser--see icon), but the tim buckley (the late jeff buckley's late father) original is incredible as well.

Thanks a lot for putting these up. I can't get Kazaa to work with the damn uni firewall, so you're my only source for music right now. No pressure ;)
