::chuckles:: Yep, you told me in an earlier lj convo. Since I was exchanging books (and thus not paying money) I figured-- what the hell. Why not. Anniesj loves it, and I love her fic, and I don't have to pay for it--let's give it a try. So there, you must be evil because you've actually started influencing my reading habbits. ^_~

Heehee! Good! And my evil is spread out even more... Mwahaha!

I was SO afraid it was going to be frightfully dull (like Crime & Punishment, which I read for my senior year in HS, and was supposed to be so brilliant)-- but its not, and I'm deeply intrigued.

Oh, it's not dull in the least. That was one of my concerns when I first picked it up, being that the book is mostly about industrialism and big business, but it's actually fascinating. Rand writes it so well; it's brilliant.

I think I already do-- I've only read a little over chapter one, but I loved how she was introduced-- slouching in a train seat listening to a symphony which turned out to be the driver whistling a tune that doesn't exist.

That was the scene where I knew I was hooked. She's so vividly described that I could just see her on that train, head thrown back, leg propped up, hat and battered coat... It's a great introduction. She's just fantastic in the sense that she really, honestly doesn't give two shits what the rest of the world thinks of her.

And then the whole thing wiht her chewing out her brother-- so awesome. Seeing first Eddie and then Dagny confront him on the problem really made James'(name?) faults in management painfully clear.

And it will only get worse. *g*

Are we going to go through the whole book hearing "Who is John Galt?" WHere does that name come from, and was it a popular phrase when this book was written, or did Rand just make it up?

That phrase is extremely important to the book -- you'll see it come up dozens of times again. It's a Randphrase, but with good reason. Very important line. And I want that quote on a bumper sticker for my car. ;)
