There's this weird thing with studying French (like I did last quarter) and watching Japanese tv (like I often am) and speaking English... all at the same time.

I get into these conversations or situations, where I want to say something, but instead of English I need to say it in French. Or Japanese. Or some strange hybrid.

And because I only know minimal French, and I only LISTEN to Japanese, I don't understand it, I end up standing there with my mouth moving soundlessly, trying to make words come out that I don't even know. I want to speak the Japanese because I listen to it so much that the sounds are there, in the back of my mind. I want to speak French because I read a lot of school stuff in French and the words are there in the back of my mind.

And there's these situations where I just know that English won't cut it, and something else is called for, but I end up floundering, or stopping myself from shouting unintelligable nonsense that vaguely resembles Japench/Frapan.

Also I have an overwhelming desire to say "Gomen!" or "Gomen nasai!" to the professor whenever I am late to a class. I've had to supress that many a time.

I actually said "Ano-sa!" to my mom the other day. Probably because Naruto says that all the time in Naruto so I've been hearing it a lot.

I've watched Princess Mononoke in Japanese with French subtitles once. Gave me quite a head-ache and I only understood it because I'd already seen it in English.

I was on a road trip, using my dad's laptop to watch movies, and I was really really bored.

Oh, I *know* the feeling. My best friend Patrick took Japanese in HS with me, and we're taking German in Uni now... whenever we're having conversations, we'll randomly use German or Japanese words. It drives everyone else crazy.

Another friend of mine is studying Mandarin and Japanese at the same time- she tells me she's tempted to give Japanese pronounciations in Mandarin class and vice versa.

I don't have that sort of problem with Japanese, but when I take notes during history they come out half french, words like and, like, country names, fighting, etc. When I look back to study for test I go WTF?

I'm always writing "et" for "and" in my notes. I completely understand.
