Jun. 3rd, 2004 09:03 pmIs it bad that I literally squeal now when I am in a happy fangirlish state?
I don't mean I say "squee" or type it out or anything... I mean just now I looked at the 26 episodes of FMA sitting on my harddrive and I put my head over my heart and literally squealed through my teeth and my massive smile.
If someone were around they'd probably smack me to make me stop.
EDIT: The episode video quality is AMAZING. These things are frelling huge! They're like... Naruto-size. Humongous.

Date: 2004-06-04 01:12 am (UTC)Btw, I know you don't read ahead in the manga chapters because of spoilers, but it does diverge from the anime at some point. Which isn't to say there won't be similar events, but it doesn't follow nearly as closely as, say, Naruto. It'll be interesting to compare the two when both have ended.

Date: 2004-06-04 01:22 am (UTC)"gutted" is the word. I was shocked... even though we had the rather morbid flashbacks of their experiment with their mother, that seemed far away whereas we had just spent a few episodes watching them all interact with Nina. And then... POW! She's gone, and the world is full of evil people. to quote my initial reaction:
"OH MY GOD, NINA!!!
::traumatized::
I can't believe they did that. Evil, evil EVIL show! A four year old little girl.... ::cries:: Dammit I hate it when evil things are done to children!
And after all that build up to like her... I didn't see it coming. I was Jossed in an anime."
This whole show just piles on the angst... yet it's funny. A strange dynamic.
I've only seen up to episode 15 so far. I'm rewatching them now, and will then continue onward through # 26, after which I'll have to look around for new eps.
I love Mustang, because I just can't guess what they're planning to do with his character... he could be the ultimate villain or he could save the lives of the heroes... it's all so open-ended. And Hughes. Hughes is great, with his pictures of his little girl. Endearing.
But back to the angst... this show is so evil!
I'm looking forward to seeing it on Adult Swim come October.

Date: 2004-06-04 01:54 am (UTC)*nods* I find it hard to pick a favorite character. I adore both Ed and Al equally, and nearly all of the supporting cast (especially Roy!). Even Scar is--well, I won't say likable, but I enjoy his character and don't think he's entirely unsympathethic. He didn't kill Nina because of evil; he saw it as the most merciful thing to do. Most of my dislike of Scar stems from the fact that he's willing to target a very young boy like Ed simply because he's got a grievance towards alchemists.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't really like him, but I think he makes a good villain.
Did you notice that in the episode where Nina dies, the end credits include the images of her, like a tribute? ::sniffle::
