I broke the unspoken codes of fanfic readerwriter solidarity.

1) I used ff.net report abuse feature to report a fic that was rated R that arguably should have been rated higher. (I know this is what the feature exists for, but in the spirit of a smutfic reader who goes against The Man, I feel I have crossed the wicked picket line and me being a Damn The Man liberal tree hugger poli sci major, crossing a picket line is unthinkable under normal circumstances)

2) I didn't do it because the rating bothered me (though I do think you could say it exceeded its rating without perjuring yourself), but because the presentation of the subject matter pissed me off. In other words, I just didn't like it.

You all can flog me now.

Here's the fic, if you're curious: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1953165/1/

Grr, I hope you weren't the culprit that reported my fic yesterday. I mean really, who absolutely has nothing better to do a Sunday afternoon than peruse R rated fics for adequate content. V_V

I would never.

Well, except for the above situation when I guess can't get around the fact that I did.

But you would never have written the above fic, so rest easy. :)

should that really have a higher rating? because i know r movies that have more violent content than that.

besides this fic isn't violent, it shouldn't be rated higher, it should shot, burned, or expunged. what kind of piece of crap was that?

i had been ganged raped, and i cried, and i cried some more, and if i told anyone they'd kill my family... yah. my review would have been an full out flame:

you're stupid. please do the world a favor and disconnect your internet, never to use again.

dude, i shouldn't vent when i'm so ticked off. poor little angsty thirteen-year-old. i'm taking all my frustration out on the kid. but seriously, gang rape and cutting isn't a cute angsty thing. let it go, dear kiddies, just let it go.

jesucristo.

see? that's why i complained. it pissed me off. which is abusing the report process but it just pissed me off anyway. Yeah, there might have been worse stuff in r movies. But that's what the review assessment people are for. if they decide it's not that bad, they'll let it stay.

Some things are a matter of taste, but that story is just a waste of bandwidth. For example, Who can safe are poor little kitten. isn't even really a sentence. Don't worry about it. :)

I know. But I have such strong objections to the ratings rule in the first place.

::seethes:: This is almost as bad as that Trigun Sue I blew up on a few days ago. I hate rape, of any kind, in fics. Leave it alone, people. Especially if you haven't a fucking clue as to what you're talking about.

Yeah, after I posted that I thought, "hmm. Perhaps I have missed her point."

You can't possibly have been the first to do something like this, though. And somebody has to go check the story out, at which point it will probably become clear that the rating isn't the only thing objectionable about the story. One might also say that you're not really going against "the man", since ffn with its embracing of borderline illegality could be considered against "the man" itself. Or, um, something.

Though I still stand by what I said before, FWIW.

Ah, how true!

But then, one might also say that ff.net represents an even worse evil: a group that goes against "the man" but has nevertheless become tarnished by "the man" 's ways, changing itself with prudish rules to make itself less offensive to "the man", thus BETRAYING THE VERY NATURE OF THE BATTLE AGAINST THE MAN ITSELF! TURNING ITS BACK ON ITS ROOTS AND BEING ABSORBED INTO THE MAD CONFORMITY OF THAT WHICH WE CALL POLITICAL CORRECTNESS! AAAARRRHGGGG!

::cough:: Well, one could go one about it all night, when one thinks about it.
