I had that problem. It is a pain.
Do you have windows? If you lately uninstall any video/audio related program, you could have a problem with the register. Try to check in troubleshooting(hardware) and see what error it gives. I google the code and found out some forums and they all say the same. You have to delete things in the register. Which is a very delicate thing. So bad I didn't keep the info, because it could have simplify your search.
