Alchemist's Oath
Sep. 16th, 2004 03:30 pmSo I was thinking about Full Metal Alchemist today (Hah! What else could I think about? This show has beaten my brain matter into submission) and I had a thought.
In this new post-Homunculous country that Mustang and Armstrong are going to make (they will dammit, they will! They can do it!), all State Alchemists should have to take an oath. Like the Hyppocratic Oath, or the oath that lawyers take. But mostly like the Hyppocratic one. It would begin, naturally, with "First, harm none."
That takes care of the whole "use alchemists in war to butcher people" problem. Make them take an oath that forbids them from using alchemy to harm others. They can still be dogs of the military... just, the kind of dogs who help people and spy and stuff, not fighting dogs.
I should write a drabble about this or something.
