Dec. 17th, 2004 11:10 amMy mom and I had about a ten minute conversation last night about what ages the Fraggles were in Fraggle Rock. This is actually a more difficult question than it looks.
At first I thought they didn't have ages at all, at least not comparable to ours. They just were. But then my mom pointed out that they had old fraggles and baby fraggles, so the main characters must have ages. We broke it down to two possibilities:
1. teenagers, because they "kind of acted like teenagers"
2. in their twenties, cause they lived by themselves and had "jobs" and didn't seem to have parents
But they play all day. I wanna do that in my twenties.

Date: 2004-12-17 01:01 pm (UTC)The main character is Princeton and he is fresh out of college and sings "What Do You Do With A B.A. in English" even as he moves into a rental on Avenue Q -- a building peopled by well - dudes in the same circumstances as he is - young and just starting out. There is Kate Monster, the sweet kindergarten teacher that just wants a boyfriend but learns that really you have to go after your dreams while you're still young.
There are Rod and Nicky - best friends and theyaresobertandernie and Rod is in deep denial but Nicky tries to be a good friend and sings to him "If you were queer/I'd still be here/Year after year/because you are dear to me" and dude - Nicky is played by the dude who plays Ernie. I think. Or he is puppetted by...
Anyway - the building super is Gary Coleman. Yes - *that* Gary Coleman (but not really - the chick playing Gary is not a puppet and she can SING) and stuff happens and there is music and heartwarming stuff and we learn a valuable lessons about helping others and everyone sings about wanting to go back to COLLEGE and in all the ways Reality Bites totally failed in capturing my post-graduation daze - this show succeeded.
I highly recommend the entire cast album - but if you have to start somewhere - start with "Everyone's a A Little Bit Racist"
Sigh.
