Heard in Rashaka's Life Today

timepiececlockI was in a car with a bunch of my housemates sitting in the LONG line at the Del Taco drive thru at like 12:30 tonight and the subject came up about mace and pepper spray. Something like this:
Housemate 1: No, mace doesn't do any good.
Housemate 2: What?
Shaka: Really?
Housemate 1: Pepper spray is better.
Housemate 2: **starts talking about something else with other 3 people crammed in the car**
Shaka: Wait, mace doesn't work? Why is pepper spray better?
Housemate 1: If the person is in any way intoxicated, even with some mild painkillers, the stuff they're taking can numb their senses to the chemicals in mace. But everyone feels it with pepper spray.
Shaka: Oh. Huh. Where do you get pepper spray, anyway?
Housemate 1: Eh... everywhere.
Shaka: Like... Albertsons? (this Del Taco is in the same small shopping center as an Albtersons)
Housemate 2: No, not Albertsons, probably.
Housemate 1: But drug stores, maybe. And... everywhere.
Shaka: **still not getting it** Like where?
Housemate 2: Actually, you know those comic stores? With anime and stuff?
Everyone else: ???
Housemate 2: You can get pepper spray in those places.
Shaka: In an anime comic store?
Housemate 2: Yeah.
Shaka: You're shitting me. Why would they sell it there?
Housemate 2: I'm telling you, they carry that stuff. I've gotten some.
Shaka: There's an anime/comic store down the street in the University Center!
Housemate 2: I bet they have it there, too. Seriously. Any place with anime stuff, probably.
Shaka: **wants so badly to make a crack about keeping pepper spray on hand to fend off rabid fangirls and fanboys**
Shaka: You're really serious? They sell pepper spray in comic stores?
Housemate 2: Yeah.

Shaka: I still think you're pulling this out of your ass.
Housemate 2: I'm telling you. Go check it out.
The funny thing? Housemate 2 isn't really an anime fan at all (he's not fandomish for anything, actually), and he doesn't really know that I'm an anime enthusiast. Which means he totally pulled this out of somewhere, be it his ass or someplace/someone else.
And yeah, I'm going to ask them if they sell pepper spray next time I go. I have to. Cause that would be just too weird if they did.
