Carnivale...& a note on FMA

Carnivale

I have five short things to say about the season finale:

1. Fuck.

2. Jonesy!

3. I maintain hope that Jonesy is still alive. After all, last season finale I thought both he and Sophie were dead, and they turned out not to be. And the end of the episode was really vague as to Jonesy's fate.

4. If Sophie is a healer now (which she appears to be), and the power does alternate roles every generation (which it has so far), then Sophie, being the daughter of the antichrist and having christ-like powers, should be the next christ role. She should be Ben's successessor, and therefor good. So what the fuck is up with the black evil eyes and JONESY DAMMIT HOW YOU COULD YOU DO THAT TO HIM?!?!

5. Very slick how the good/evil conflict is now going to shift from family conflict to romantic conflict. Poor Ben... I can see it now.
Ben: "Sophie! You're alive! I'm so glad you're okay! Let's make moon eyes at each other for hours in our puppy love state!"
Sophie: **black eyes** "I HAVE COME FOR YOUR SOUL BEN HAWKINS!"
Ben: "You don't love me anymore?!"
Sophie:"I VANT TO SZUCK YOUR BLTHOOD!"


FMA

Just a side note to say that I really liked the dub of episode 20, now that I finally saw it. The voice actors for Alphonse and Barry and No. 48 were all wonderful in this ep. No. 48 also sounded kinda like Darth Vader meets Mufasa of The Lion King, which ended up being more cool than cheesy. Maybe they secretly hired James Earl Jones? Nah, probably not.

I just finished watching the Carnivale season finale, and my mind is reeling.

then Sophie, being the daughter of the antichrist and having christ-like powers, should be the next christ role. She should be Ben's successessor, and therefor good. So what the fuck is up with the black evil eyes and JONESY DAMMIT HOW YOU COULD YOU DO THAT TO HIM?!?!

I'm confused over this, too. Espeically since, throughout most of the series she has been, basically, a good person. And then all of a sudden finds out that it was Justin who raped her mother and BAM she has the Black Eyes of Evil and she's shooting Jonesy. From what we've seen so far, the powers don't really change a person's basic personality. Scudder, for example, when we finally met him in something other than flashbacks and such, didn't seem nearly as evil as Justin, despite having the same powers. He seemed to find the whole thing to be a burden and a duty that had to be fulfilled. I mean, he used his powers, but he wasn't all like "Let's take over the world!" like Justin.

I'm sort of thinking that maybe it's not as simple as her being Ben's successor. Lodz said she was the Omega...I don't think we really know what that means in the context of what's going on. I don't recall him ever referring to Ben as the Omega (but then again, I haven't watched season 1 since it first aired, so I might be wrong). So she might be something unique because the combination of her mother's and Justin's powers did something freaky to her.

If she is Ben's successor, though...there's a chance she might be pregnant with Ben's kid (since they did have sex). So, if that's the case she'd be the mother of her opposite. That would be pretty fucked up.

Also, I'm holding out hope for Jonesy still being alive, too. I mean, he's been almost dead twice already. So I don't see why I shouldn't hope that he scrapes by again somehow.
