Luffy's voice was like ice picks to my ears. One line and I was scrambling for the power button, the mute button, SOMETHING. Before my fingers could touch the power button, just miliseconds away, I heard Nami utter the name "Zolo".

It's ZORO YOU FOX DEGENERATES! ZORO! LIKE THE MOVIE LEGEND AND LIKE THE MANGA!

Me neither :P I was warned EXTENSIVELY but watched anyway. I would be able to live with EVERY other voice (and the Zolo thing - the first two volumes of the licensed manga translated his name that way so I was actually kinda used to it) if Luffy's voice didn't make me want to stick scissors into my ears.

I am able to watch it on mute and still have to marvel over the fact that the translation is pretty bad, too; but at least the character designs are good! :P (Usopp's voice makes me hurt, too, but I guess I could live with that if Luffy's voice weren't so... yeah, you know.)

Then I must have gotten a reprinted version or something, cause I have volumes 1-3 and they said "Zoro". I enjoyed the three that I got (they were a gift) but wasn't interested enough to buy more. I was looking forward to the idea of randomly watching episodes for free on tv, much the way I used to randomly rent eps of Ranma.

Of course, one line of Luffy's voice and that dream was killed via falling elephant.

So If I want to hear OP in english, I just rewatch this and pretend it's the show.

That is so WEIRD! Maybe mine is reprinted, to match the hideous dub? Lord only knows :P I read the first volume in the store one day and really liked it, and bugged Dan to buy it because I knew he'd like it too. It took him a long time to get around to reading it but when he did he was suddenly like "You were RIGHT!" Which happens all the time; I'm not sure why he sounds so surprised every time. ^_~ It's rare that I want to buy manga, but the main reason was to get Dan to read it, which he won't do in store. *G* That's why I haven't bought a single "Fruits Basket" manga, but own the first two One Piece, and three of the four Azumanga Daoih volumes.
