Did you have the experience that the darker the movies were at the age you watched them, they became the movies you loved most? Rats of Nimh was that way for me-- scary images of needles and animal cruelty and the scary owl and a generally darker story for a kid's film, but it's one of the ones I loved most growing up. Like, I knew it was a little "older" than the other ones so I felt smarter and cooler "getting" it.
