To me, Galactica and the Nebuchadnezzar are practically the same in terms of survival rates. Galactica nudges faintly ahead because they probably have better showers and clothing that comes in more than brown, black, white, and grey.

Being a civilian on BSG would be anguish. Constant mental and emotional torment capped off with a violent, meaningless death. Urk. Back when I watched Lost, during its first season, people suggested the characters were in pergatory. I think BSG would make an effective hell.
