So now I've seen episodes 1-5 and 12-14 of Mushishi. Yeah, I skipped a few. I'll go back and watch them later. I'm in the middle of episode 15 now. And the woman in this episode cracks me up. "Can you stay for ten days?" "Maybe you should stay till spring." "You don't really want to go, do you?" ::snert:: Someone's husband-hunting. Poor Ginko. Then again, he doesn't seem to bothered by the idea, if it weren't for the mushi-magnet affect.

I'm actually surprised he doesn't angst more. I mean a lot of these episodes end badly, and sometimes his presense triggers or adds to the badness. He's surprisingly able to distance himself from all of it.

15 was one of my favorite episodes, for that aspect. Doesn't it ever bother him that he simply can't settle down? Then again, he's never had a home, so it would be difficult to miss what he's never experienced.

Argh! LJ ate my reply!

Just finished watching the episode. I liked it a lot too-- at the end, wiht the line "People are weak in the winter too" you get the impression that maybe he was honestly toying with the idea somewhere along the line. Although he's clearly resolved himself to a wandering existence, and seems content with that, it's interesting to know that he isn't immune to the allure of having a home, even if it's not something he truly wants (or doesn't feel it's possible to have anyway so doesn't let himself hope for it, which amounts to the same thing.)
