timepiececlockI was thinking about the new Doctor Who episode, and trying to figure out why the plotline feels familiar to me. The self-contained love story plotline, where he meets her and loves her and then has to let her go at the end and return to his normal ways with a new broken-hearted-but-in-a-distant-way experience to add to his culminated life experience.
I keep thinking maybe it was...Highlander? Or that could just be because OOC!Ten reminded me of Methos.
But anyway, the love story plot reminded me of *something*, though I've no idea what. Something I've seen before, possibly more than once.
This feeling of familiarity is adding to the feeling that this whole love story thing could have been great--if only it had been well-written. And if it had smoothly blended with the current pseudo-relationship between Ten & Rose (as friends or not-yet-lovers, a nod to either was sorely needed), that would have been even better.
It didn't, though, and I'm left vaguely disgruntled and with a desire to see the new episode already so that I ca pretend this one didn't exist.
That or read a fanfic that rewrites the entire episode into something with a) plot, b) no pod-Doctor, c) an actual romantic element.
