Re: the Naruto fic in this post - I really *really* wish there were more quality dramatic action gen fics. Because Naruto is one of the few fandoms (and they're less than five fingers' worth) that I *don't* read for shipping, though I've read plenty that are shippy. What I really want for Naruto is dramatic actiony gen fics. Possibly with lots of angst, because I'm an angstfic junkie. But I love my NotSoBabyNinjas, and I want to read about Naruto kicking ass, not Naruto sleeping between Sasuke and Sakura/Gaara/Neji/Hinata/Lee all at once.

Yeah, I just posted it. I was bitching about Six, like, two hours ago. I never can keep all of my thoughts in my head and do one post. The need to spam is strong with me.

I don't read much Naruto fic, period. The 'ship I do like reading about (ShikaTema) has a lot of smut and I don't do smut. The gen fics are usually crap or are filled with lame-ass Sues. Also ... like you mentioned ... the yaoi is out of fucking control. It's weird that I'd get into het 'ships when I came over to anime/manga (I do tons of slash in non-anime/manga fandoms). Ironic, more like. I can't find a good het fic when I want one.

I'm usually quite hesistant to comment on the amount of yaoi in a fandom, simply because I think it will never change and people can write what they want blah blah blah, but Naruto ficverse really IS something different. The proportions of yaoi to het to gen are so out of whack compared to any other anime fandom I've crossed, and it's only the fact that it's so goddamn huge that I'm able to find fics that I do want, rare as it is.

I've found a few Shika/Ino fics I've liked, a few Naru/Saku fics I've liked, and one adult!Sakura/Kakashi fic that was really good. But have you been to the Naruto section of adultff.net? Go search for het fics there; there's less than FIVE and the pairings represented will make you laugh your ass off.

And despite the overabundance of yaoi in that fandom, I always have so much trouble finding the one m/m pairing I *do* like.
