Just went to see An Inconvenient Truth. I saw it with a visiting German student; she said that a lot of stuff discussed on the film is on German news regularly. I had to say that is not the case here.

In general I knew about 80% of what was shown already. The groundwork information. What was new to me was the immediacy of geological changes and the pure numbers about global temperatures, global CO2 levels, and such going back as much as 650,000 years. The melting ice shelves in the Arctic and Antarctic were the most startling to me, and by far the most disturbing.

BTW, no, I'm not going to spoiler-cut for a non-fiction educational message film about the current effects of global warming. The spoiler has been out for a while now that global warming exists.

I just didn't realize the changes were happening so soon.

Some time last year my dad actually out-and-out apologized to me and my brother for his generation's contribution to global warming. I thought of that when I was watching An Inconvenient Truth.

Make everyone you know go to see this movie. You, yourself, especially if you're an American, should go to see this movie.

I need to see that at some point in the near future. It's obnoxiously disgusting the way we treat our planet, and melty death is what we deserve, really.

Heeh. Your words make me smile.
