::watching HP & Goblet of Fire::

00:03 - OMG David Tennant! It's like a pathetic, evil Doctor Who!
00:04 - wow, Ron has shoulders.

00:07 - the tent is bigger on the inside? SO VERY DOCTORWHO OF THEM.

00:10 - The Death Eaters have tall cone hoods. SUBTLE, director, SUBTLE. YOUR POWERS OF SUBTLETY ARE JUST BRAIN-SHATTERING WITH HOW SUBTLE THEY ARE.

00:12 - Oh yay! Crazy Doctor is back. I forgive the hoods. Sort of.
00:12 - shiny skull thing...shiny....

00:15 - Harry's hair doesn't look as bad in the movie as it did in the movie posters. But why has it grown at all? I thought his hair was stuck in one style by magic or something.

00:16 - Okay, you get points for an awesome ship.

00:18 - Was that entrance by the French girls' school supposed to be pretty? Because mostly that just pissed me off. What was with the SWOONING? Can we take the objectification a little further? Just a bit, just for fun.

00:19 - They're really pushing the gender crap with this, aren't they? The girls school gets fluttery flowers and the boy's school gets drums, fire, and large rods. Oh please. If it were my school (my co-ed school) you'd get drums, strings, reeds, a hell of a lot of acrobatics, LOTS of fire, and each student in a fantastic constantly-morphing costume.

00:57 - Dragons! ... the pace for this movie feels different from the other three. They're really cutting down the extra stuff.

01:11 - this date discussion scene in Snape's class is the best scene in the movie so far. It's got a lot going on--- lots of balance in the action of all the characters, especially with Snape constantly re-entering to stop Ron and Harry from talking. Hm... the Fred-or-George way of asking was pretty smooth; I'd have said yes to that. And I liked how Harry was tugging on Ron's arm to get him to stop making an idiot of himself. Good direction for this scene.

01:17 - Okay ENOUGH with the rising music as Hermione comes down the steps. Enough. a) it's not like she wasn't a very pretty girl before she put on a dress, b) that dress is far too frilly by two thirds, and c) the music's annoying.

01:19 - This rock band is embarassing for everyone involved.

01:21 - alright, this teenage crap is getting annoying by now. It's been so long since I read the 4th book I don't remember if it was this annoying. God, and there's over an hour left? When will David Tennant come back? When?

01:24 - Neville's so adorable.

01:46 - WheeeeDavidTennanthissing. Oh well-- Barty Crouch will go onto a better existence with his next life, wherein he will be a heroic alien who crosses seven galaxies in a single bound.

- I don't remember Voldemort being this prancy in the books. Was he this prancy?

- Also, the ghost thing came off pretty silly despite their best efforts. I mean how much of a deus ex machina was THAT? At least they kept it short.

- Voldemort violated at least four Evil Overlord rules, by my count. No wonder he got himself killed last time.

02:10 - Poor Cedric. Although this doesn't seem as powerful as it should have been. Perhaps it's just because I already knew it was coming. Then again... I knew Boromir would die in LOTR and that made me fucking cry. At two different showings. So go figure.

02:17 - David Tennant and his tongue. Hn.

02:23 - I'm confused by the flying horse-drawn carriage. I thought the Thestrals/horses were invisible until after you'd seen someone die? But Harry saw them in the beginning of the film.

Hmm.... better than HP 1 and 2, not as good as 3. Could have been as good as 3 if they'd cut out 45 minutes of it. I'd have nixed all the ball stuff. And cut down Dumbledore's pensieve memory by several seconds. And nixed the quiddich cup opening sequence. Overall the pace of the film suffered because of the length.

It does make me want to read some fanfic, though.

Character stuff: Ron/Hermione continues to be annoying in that allowable teenage way. I'd just rather not have watched it on screen. There was a whole lot of Harry/Hermione in this film, in a very sweet friendshippy way that's good for screencaps for H/Hr shippers and vidders.

Barty Crouch Jr. and Mad Eye Moody were pretty cool, but not as cool as Remus and Sirius, who played these respective roles last time. Then again, as much as I  David Tennant, he's not Gary Oldman yet. And the guy who did Mad-Eye Moody, while perfectly decent (loved his make-up), well... he's not David Thewlis. In the last scene where Moody is talking to Potter and about to re-transform into Crouch... I couldn't help but compare it to the shack scene where Sirius and Remus are sniping at each other and then hugging each other-- so that for a minute you think Remus is evil too. The suprise was stronger in that scene than in Crouch's reveal in this film. And, well, David Thewlis plays "could be evil" so well. If he weren't already Remus (admittedly, I had expected someone else to be cast for that role), then I could have seen Thewlis in Crouch's role. He's a bit old for it, but he would have played the character with zeal.

Actually, this movie was entertaining, but it's really making me look forward to the fifth movie. The 5th book was the one I liked after book 3, and it has some kickass stuff. I think I'll look forward to it more having seen this one.

Funny commentary, lol. And no, Voldemort wasn't this prancy in the books. At least, he wasn't supposed to be this prancy. In the movie, we were supposed to be scared of him. (Creep.)
