music: Blue October
Aug. 4th, 2006 11:17 pmI'm watching the music video for Blue October's "Hate Me", and I'm kind of amused.
The lead singer has a short semi-mohak and heavy dark eye makeup. While the look certain fits Blue October's lyrics, I'm amused because when I saw them over two years ago opening for Eve 6 in a free concert for San Jose's Music In the Park, right about when they had their first single "Calling You"... back then the guy looked normal. I don't remember punk hair or punk make up or punk clothing. I remember t-shirts and very possibly jeans.
It's funny, wondering whether the punk make up came before or after "Hate Me" was picked for radio play.
The video's kinda odd but okay, and the song's pretty decent. Their lyrics have gotten better-- I remember when I saw the concert I thought that their music was interesting but the lyrics weren't as strong. The lyrics for Hate Me are not mind-blowingly brilliant but they're decent and singable, with a few good jems like "While I was busy waging wars on myself you were trying to stop the fight."
In other news, I bought the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium album. I already had it on mp3 but I wanted the full package. I think I'm in love with this double-album. It's great for listening to in the car.
