I have to say the description of Time Lords is so utterly perfect it made me laugh muchly.

The Time Lords may or may not have existed. ... ... ... These irreconcilable differences resulted in the Last Great Time War, which raged across the universe, the future and the past, until both sides ended up annihilating each other so thoroughly that they had never existed.

It's just precisely right. I can hear Adams's voice reciting it in my head. And the fact that they time-warred themselves out of ever existing in the first place is the exact kind of irony that The Guide collects.

I may have to sit down and try to read this again. I've heard there's a lotta Adams' humor and Hitchhiker's references in some later Fourth Doctor stuff. I feel like I'm missing out on the joke. :/
