... and needless to say, I'll be watching it again. OOOOH, I WILL be watching it again. It's definitely UP THERE, and I have no idea why it isn't as popular as it should be. It's brilliant, so so so brilliant. What I absolutely loved was the way it incorporated a whole gallery of themes, including the art of storytelling - and the nature of fairy tales in particular - and the characters... the characters... I wanted to marry Aotoa at the end, I honestly did - obsessiveness and all. He catches on quickly.
AND THE SHIPPING!!!! AAaah *will not even begin this tangent*
Oh crap... I'm not coming off as very intelligent at the moment, but it's such a good series - so UNIQUE - and the ending, the fairytaleish way Mytho and Rue ended up together, and the muchmoreawesome way Fakir and Ahiru ended up, sorta kinda - and my friends already told me to stop calling them just so I can babble about the greatness of it - but on the bright side, one is very interested in watching it, even if she still won't stop making fun of its title. BUT IT'LL GET HER IN THE END.
I actually found it through your LJ ^__^;; Call it stalkerish, but I have this habit of going through people's tags, for some reason. And then I saw 'Princess Tutu' and vaguely remembered hearing about it, so I opened it, saw the words 'most wonderful meta and literary of anime' somewhere on the page, and I got to thinking: 'a LITERARY anime? How can that be!?'
So I Youtubed it and finished all 26 Acts in just two days ((having started it yesterday)) because "Hurricane" Ernesto is giving us Floridians some free time from school; and now I am in SERIOUS need of FakirxAhiru. This is where I cling to fandom. Their ending was indeed satisfying, but I need to see them together SOMEHOW, or I'll go *virtually* insane... because she is now a duck!! Beautiful as their ending/beginning was, she remains a duck!!
And emotional payoff? Damn right. Sometime in the first half of the series, I found myself actually *caring* for the characters, instead of caring about how interesting/original/significant their roles were. I would've supported MythoxTutu if it would've made her happy. And that's stupid, because she's not even real, but I can't help it because this was one GEM of an anime, and I can't say this often enough: THANK YOU.
If you loved PT, you should watch Fruits Basket next. It is awesome as well.
There is no 'if' about it. I loved it. I've heard plenty about Fruits Basket, though, and it's been recommended many times - but if it's anything like Princess Tutu, then hell yeah, I'm watching it. I'm afraid PT will be setting some pretty high standards, though. :P
((So I'm sorry I have to spam your LJ with this, er... *review* of sorts, but it's past midnight over here and I have no one else to gush to. T__T And I really need to gush because I've just finished watching it, and it makes me want to unleash my inner fangirl, but I can't do it now because I'll wake up my household. But I could try gushing about it on my own LJ... now there's an idea...))
*I might even end up reviewing each episode, separately... this anime leaves a person with a lot to say.*
*and I will enjoy reading your reactions, of course. ^___^ and ransacking your LJ and your friends' LJs for PTfic; I don't think I'll even try writing for my shiny new FakirxAhiru OTP... it is too precious.*
I JUST finished the series...
