[livejournal.com profile] katara_zuko, I could kick you. Why do you guys insist on spoiling me? Is it so very hard to contain all your squeeing and ranting to a single very well-advertised spoiler post? Which BTW, is a spoiler-discussion system you all VOTED on with 86.5% in favor. How come I keep telling you all not to post spoiler discussion AND YOU ALL KEEP DOING IT ANYWAY? Even people I lectured about spoilers just like two weeks ago?! ARGH.

Of course, every time I have to delete a spoiler post I pretty much end up being forced to read it. WHICH IS NOT FUN FOR ME.

I am also, and I can't really believe this, but I'm also considering staying away from the comm for the next two weeks. Which would be remiss of me as an active mod, I know. But I just don't want spoilers for the finale-- someone already gave me a rumor I didn't want to hear, and that was more than enough. Of course I'm spoiled for tomorrow's episode just because people keep POSTING about it.

I mean, come on! If I'm really going to be running around all next year not paying attention to fandom and missing all of season 3 then I'd like to MAYBE, JUST MAYBE watch the season 2 finale without being accidentally spoiled up to my ears. Is that so much to ask for? Is it really?

Argh. ::kicks the comm:: Stop trying to ruin my tv experience! Fandom is my friggin' hobby, let me enjoy it!

P.S. I'm so over feeling guilty about deleting people's posts because they break the rules. I'd go delete two or three right now if I wasn't irked by the whole situation.

Maybe appoint a temporary mod to watch the comm for the next few weeks, someone who is not really invested in the show enough to care about spoilers? I'd volunteer myself but am not sure whether you feel you know me well enough for that. In any case, there's got to be SOMEONE you know who is not also in that fandom! :)

I totally would trust you in that role. But since you're not in the community I'm not sure it'd be a good idea-- all our current mods are known by the members, and I do think that you shouldn't really have a mod who's not part of the fandom. Doesn't seem...hm...respectful to the members. And anyway, I already wrote my "please advice me" letter to the community admin, so I'm basically foisting it on her to decide whether we back off or enforce our own rules. Everything was going fine until the last two weeks, when suddenly everyone wants to post spoilers all over the place.

Thank you for offering, though. And, just so you know, I've had you on my flist long enough to say that if I thought it would be helpful or appropriate, I would definitely consider you as a choice. You're, what's the word... rational. Nicely rational. And you've got the kind of spine mod-persons should have. More spine than me, perhaps, as I hate hate hate lecturing people.

Yeah, there's a lot of good reasons for why I'm not the best choice, but I would have felt bad if I didn't put that offer out there. You deserve to be spoiler free!

Hey...are you the same Herongale who used to write a Digific called "Lux Fiat"? As well as "Sybil Said?"

Oh. Well. In that case: 3oryskjhfkldjshf!!! OMG, will you sign my baby?

I am, of course, kidding about the baby. But not about the OMG level of awe. Lady, your fic made me numb with envy for many, many moons. Seriously, wow.

That's so gratifying to hear! I'm no longer writing Digimon fics (I've moved on to Fullmetal Alchemist), but hearing this makes me so happy.

Rashaka recommends you, so I hope you don't mind if I add your LJ. And since you are a fic lover, I want to know what fandoms you haunt so I can hit you up for some reccs. ♥

FMA? Oh, be still my Hughes lovin' heart: any chance of fic on the horizon?

I'm always happy to be friended. As for fandom, I'm currently trying to survive my lurv (and all its leprous charms) for Avatar: the Last Airbender. Rashaka and I also share the sad, ever exasperating fate of being Zutara shippers.

Well, no Hughes fic, sadly (he's so awesome though). But I did write a huge Ed/Scar slash fic which I think is really my best story to date. The whole thing can be found on my fic journal, [livejournal.com profile] lukassa, and each part is linked from the last chapter here. I'd be very honored if you gave it a look-see.

And everyone I respect and adore loves Avatar these days. I think I am going to have to crumble and give it a shot. D:

to me i don't mind spoilers, and i actually bookmarked the spolier post. what bugs me is that the spoiler post was really nice because it kept the discussion in one place, now they're all over the place! i keep having to shift through the all the entries and try to keep them on track. on top of that, nobody is tagging their entries!

so it bugs me too that people are disregarding the spoiler post when that's what it's there for! to keep thje spoiler-free folks and the spoiler-junkies happy!

HUMPH!

It also bugs me that people don't tag their entries, but I've basically given up on that. We mods have all been tagging the entries pretty much since the tags became available. I tag when I see a post that needs it, and I figure if a post gets missed then its the poster's own fault. The tags are basically free advertising for when someone does a search for something like fanart, so if they don't want to be included in that, what can we do? But we try, because we like organization and categories.

Well littlebrat made a really nice (and authoritative) post about it, so hopefully people will stop doing it.

We've got really short attention spans, I guess.

It also gets hard to navigate around without spoilers (especially the current biggie floating around) without feeling out of the loop. I very cautiously avoided spoilers about upcoming episodes until the comm exploded with shrieking about yesterday and I had no idea what was going on, so I went and explored and got spoiled. Probably my own damn fault but still. We keep encouraging each other for spoilers in our efforts to remain included.

Yeah, I figured that's why some people are reluctant to use the spoiler thread-- they're afraid no one will notice what they had to say. But if people actually USE the thread (which they really started doing in October) then of course they will get noticed, because it's the only place to go where that stuff is talked about.

I've been spoiled about a couple major things for tomorrow's episode, and of course the one big spoiler about the finale that no one can shut up about. Hopefully that's all I'll get spoiled for, considering that otherwise I know very little. And littlebrat made a really nice (and authoritative) post about the spoilers, so hopefully people will stop doing it.

But--but---Rashaka, don't you want to squee over the spoilers too?

Just kidding with you. I was wondering when someone was going to harp down on the spoilers. I kinda just sat their twiddling my thumbs like...'Hmm...Rashaka or Little_fool or someone is going to see this soon...'

They aren't what I'd call super-huge spoilers, either. They're episode descriptions that you find when you click 'info' on the TVguide. Simple, two-three line stuff. Or else I'd be mad, too, because SotF was kinda ruined for me by spoilers and I've been trying hard not to read every single one I come across. >.<

I harped last time and it didn't stick (well, that's not entirely true, because [livejournal.com profile] amoebafive did apologize to me later and I don't think she'll post spoilers again, but then again it was her first offense, where some of these spoiler posters have done so more than once.) I figured best to call in the big guns ([livejournal.com profile] littlebrat, who I love modding under.)

You know, one of the things you guys might want to try to do is that, instead of just having a monthly spoiler post, having a weekly or a biweekly spoiler post instead. That way, it's newer and fresher on people's minds, and people won't be scared that others won't see what they posted on it.

Or maybe mess with the layout and move the spoiler post tag up so that it's one of the first things people see, and maybe make it bold or red or blinking, something that people notice more.

(for the recond, I use the spoiler post, but I know I'm only one of few.)

Don't feel bad, or that this is directed to you personally; if it was I would have commented to you and not posted in my personal journal to complain about the state of affairs as a whole. I separate moderator responses from my personal opinion, which is why I did not post this at the community. There were several spoilery posts that prompted my irritation, though littlebrat reposted and hopefully clarified everything so it's all a new start from here. :)
