Finally watching Doctor Who again. Only, like, 8 months after the end of last season.
-I like the rapid start pace of this episode.
-"Can't go back on someone's personal timeline. Apparently." What? Since when? Nine did it. Previous Doctors must've done it.
-He's having swoony Rose flashbacks and feeling claustrophobic around all the ultra-happy dancing people, because he's soverynothappyrightnow. Thank you, writers.
"To honor and obey." / "Tell me about it, mate." ::snicker:: Okay that was funny.
"Like a secret base under a major London landmark?" / " Oh I know love." There's some kind of in-joke there, but I'm missing it.
She may be annoying, but she's brave.
"All the way to the center of the earth."
"Really? Seriously, what for?" I love the way the Doctor says it with such bemusement, as if he can't honestly think of a reason one would do such a silly thing. The dinosaur bit is cute, too.
"What I said before, I lied." One of his better lies; I thought it was poor continuity.
"Pockets." ... "They're bigger on the inside." Oh I bet they are.
So the Doctor's plan is to use the entire ocean to fill a hole going down to the molten core of the earth, where it'd be evaporated anyway before anyone could have time to drown in it? Okay, right... not going to apply science here. Though honestly, this could have been a little more logical without much trouble. Just a *little*. Like, beaming all the babies into space. No ecological nonsense that way.
"You've seen it out there. It's beautiful."
"It's terrible."
Oh, Doctor. Not everyone wants to see the universe, and you can't get over your feelings by replacing her with the first person you meet.
"Her name was Rose." He chokes on just her *name*. Tennant, I do love you sometimes. It's hard to remember it's only been a day or so since the Doctor last saw/spoke to her.
I think I'll probably like the new companion, Martha. I like most characters on this show. But...dudes... there's no ship like your OTP.

Back in "Rose," the Nestene Consciousness was hiding under the London Eye. UNIT had a headquarters under the Tower of London in "The Christmas Invasion." The Cybermen in the alternate universe were in the Battersea Power Station. Torchwood One (in London) was in Canary Wharf. Plus there are several examples from the old school as well. It's been a popular game for the Doctor Who writers over the years: "what famous landmark can we use?"
And, moving to Cardiff instead of London, Torchwood Three (from Torchwood) is under Roald Dahl Plass.
