Stargate Atlantis: new episode tonight

timepiececlockSo...uh...it's very odd to have my ship end and be reintroduced...simultaneously. I mean, Sheppard clearly had to adjust to what he knew: that essentially Elizabeth is dead, and not coming home. That's over, done with, finis. Nothing can change it.
On the other hand, a clone of John Sheppard with all his memories and feelings now exists, and it's free to run around the galaxy with a clone of Elizabeth Weir, also possessing of her original memories and feelings. It's almost like an alternate universe, except they're just one planet over. Weird.
As episodes go, this was not that great. A lot of filler and exposition for essentially learning two things: that Elizabeth is dead and the the Replicators are many and strong. Other than that, nothing of import happened. Just talking, albeit some very intense staring between John and Elizabeth.
Now, my dad thinks-- and I agree--that the last scene could have been much cooler if Rodney had been switched, and it was his clone now back on Atlantis instead of himself. That would be neat, though some how I doubt it happening.
It kinda sucks to do shipping for a Stargate series. With most shows, you can hope for two people to get together or break up or whatever, but you know that at least SOMEONE is going to get together with SOMEONE. In SG1 and SGA, no body really hooks up, not for real. It's depressing. They're all such professionals when it comes to workplace relationships, which is patently ridiculous considering how most of the characters are very unprofessional in every other aspect of their jobs, taking unbelievable risks, blowing off authority, and generally doing things that would have them kicked out of a real military from day 2. So they can break all the rules they want and be forgiven if the day ends well... but they can't sleep with each other. It's kind of painful to watch, honestly.
